Hey now...he lost his Father. A man who raised him and who he respected, and for good reason! I'm his old man! A crazy old bastard who is a disgusting drunk and merely adopted him. lol

    Haha. Good point.

  • Songs really don't get to me, don't know why, but they don't. But Cats in the Cradle was played at one of my best friend's funeral a couple years ago. My friend's dad picked it out

Damn, bet there wasn't a dry eye in there. My good friend played this at his dad's funeral and it usually gets to me a bit.

    Jackson Browne - For A Dancer (+ lyrics 1974)

Track from the classic 'Late For The Sky' album from Asylum Records. For A Dancer, Fountain Of Sorrow and Before The Deluge made this such a memorable album for me.

Ugh, this thread has taken a turn for the depressing. But I have requested that the following songs be played at my funeral:
    1. Don't let the Sun Go Down On Me
    2. Desperado
    3. Amazing Grace

I think I want them to keep the good times going when I die, so I think a good song to keep spirits up as a first song at mine would be this

  • You all can hate me, but "God Bless the USA" is not a good song. The lyrics are predictable and cheesy, the music is lousy and in no way interesting, and Lee Greenwood's voice is awful. I'm not sure if anyone actually likes that song, or if they just feel like they have to or they'd hate 'Murrica.

    Agreed

Its the cliched "muhreca, luv it or leave it" anthem
