songs that makes you get dust in your eyes

  • I remember when my boy was a baby, we had a radio in his room....one night when i was rocking him back to sleep in the early morning hours, the song "Cats in the Cradle" came on...needless to say...my eyes had quite a bit of dust in it.

for some reason, when i hear Green Day's "Time of your life", it gets to me a little. it was the last song the wife and i played at our wedding reception...ii don't know if the song meaning is the way i interpret it, but it just seems to hit close to me.

  • Cats in the Cradle was the very first song to come to mind. When I was a kid it made me think of my dad. Now that I'm much older, I think of my sons. Still has the same effect.

  • Both "Life Goes On" and "Changes" by Tupac if I'm a certain mood when listening to them. Eminem's "Stan" sometimes too.

Lee Greenwood - God Bless the U.S.A.

Thanks for all the views! Really means alot to alot of people, not just me. God Bless The U.S.A by Lee Greenwood & a lot of pictures. Hope you like it! If so, rate the video and leave a comment :) LYRICS: If tommorow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life And I had to start again with just my children and my wife I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today Cause the flag still stands for Freedom And they can't take that away! And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm Free And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today Cause there ain't no doubt, I love this land! God Bless The U.S.A ! From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tenesee, across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea From Detroit down to Houston and New York to L.A Where there's pride in every American Heart and it's time we stand and say: That I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today Cause there ain't no doubt, I love this land! God Bless The U.S.A ! And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free! And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me! I don't cry from them. They just bring back good memories I have from my father and how much those songs meant to him. I don't cry from music.

Simon and Garfunkel - Kathy's Song (Live)

Recorded in 1969, (Originally released in 1966). From the album Greatest Hits, and also on The Essential Simon and Garfunkel, 2003. After recording their first album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M, in early 1964, Simon moved to England without Garfunkel. At this time folk music was becoming popular in England and Simon started working around the English folk clubs and coffee houses. He met Kathy Chitty in April 1964 at the very first English folk club he played at, the Railway Inn Folk Club in Brentwood, Essex. She was 17, he was 22 and they fell in love. Later that year they visited the US together. Kathy returned to England on her own with Simon returning to her some weeks later. When he was back in London he recorded the album The Paul Simon Songbook that included "Kathys Song", and had a photo of Simon and Kathy on the cover. In September 1965, when Simon learned of the growing success of "The Sound of Silence" he felt the need to immediately return to the US to continue his career. Kathy was quite shy and wanted no part of the success and fame that awaited Simon. They split up. During the separation after Kathy returned home from the American trip he wrote "Kathys Song", which lyrics lay bare the extent to which he was missing her. ~~~~~~ I hear the drizzle of the rain Like a memory it falls Soft and warm continuing Tapping on my roof and walls. And from the shelter of my mind Through the window of my eyes I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets To England where my heart lies. My mind's distracted and diffused My thoughts are many miles away They lie with you when you're asleep And kiss you when you start your day. And a song I was writing is left undone I don't know why I spend my time Writing songs I can't believe With words that tear and strain to rhyme. And so you see I have come to doubt All that I once held as true I stand alone without beliefs The only truth I know is you. And as I watch the drops of rain Weave their weary paths and die I know that I am like the rain There but for the grace of you go I.
