help me not lose my ish

  • Work has sucked harder than usual the last couple weeks...it doesn't help that each time I pull into the place, I just start getting irritated because it sucks. Maybe I am a little more irritated than usual since I didn't get that job from my second interview last week.

Apparently since this job is the only thing I am qualified to do and i will probably be stuck here for a while, help me out so I don't lose my effing mind.

There have been a lot of people walking out in another department where the employees get pretty dumped on, and I wish I was in a position just to say "screw u, I'm out" and it just sucks to go to a place that you are miserable at day in and day out

The kicker is if I knew then what I do now, I would've never went to school, and left the job I had to go to the job I was laid off from as it was relevant to what I went to school for.

    :/

  • You seem to always get dealt a super shit card Rob. If I could help anyone itd definitely be you. Plus, I think your stories of road rage are hilarious because I get super mad at drivers easily, too.

  • I just know life isn't supposed to be spent going somewhere and doing something that makes you this miserable. Just sucks that all my past intentions to better myself have backfired, and I feel stuck

  • I guess the only words I have for you is some tough love buddy. Life is tough. It's tough for everyone not just you. Where you struggle with a career choice, others struggle witih health concerns, or financial woes. My grandparents grew up in an era where 1 in 3 people were unemployed and my grandfather didn't finish school because he had to sell apples on a street corner to help the family make ends meet. After that he was sent overseas to fight an enemy that wanted to destroy us while my grandmother raised 2 kids alone while dealing with supply rations due to the war effort. Adversity makes us stronger, and like I've told my kids several times...it's not about how many times you get knocked down in life, it's about how many times you get back up. So get back up, dust yourself off, and fight like I know you can!

My department as well as another department are not looked at real high in the organizational hierarchy....considering second shift is like second class within my department, we tend to get dumped on. The other department, they take the people that actually work and run them in the ground until they get fed up. They had a handful of people walk out this week.

I was in a cube farm prior to getting the job I got laid off from. While in the cube farm, I went into and architectural tech program (CAD drafting)..got a job while in school, and then got laid off a year and a half later when economy tanked, projects put on hold, other companies who normally didn't do what we did were bidding and lowballing to get jobs to keep their doors opened.

Pretty much even when I was looking for that job, and after my layoff, it was "you don't have enough experience", and now it is not only the experience, but an interview a month ago it was that it has been too long since I have worked in that field. I should've stayed in the cube farm.

Part of it for me to is that mentally, I feel that I will be able to put the layoff behind me if I am able to move on from the job I had to take because I had no job. I have moved up as much as I can (started as part time, and am in the "charge" position on my shift)

The last couple weeks sucked.....combined with the rejection letter I got on my 2nd interview last week, and some crap that went on last night....I hit my limit and just about lost my marbles. Was a bad night..ha a headache all day today...I think because I was raging last night. If I was single, without a kid...I probably would've just loaded my car and started to drive and just seen wherever I ended up

Just remember Rob, the more difficult the battle, the sweeter the victory. When (not if) you get a new job, you will appreciate it that much more. When my oldest son was younger and trying to get his permit, he repeatedly failed the written test. Time after time that poor kid went in to the DOT office to take that test, and time after time he failed. He was dejected and depressed about it, and was convinced that he would never be able to drive. He knew the stuff, but would just freeze up when he took the test. With my help he persevered and after at least a dozen tries, he finally passed the test. He was ecstatic, and today is probably the better driver of the two of my boys, simply because he appreciates it more...you see my youngest son passed it on the first try.
