When you fly (on an airplane) window seat, or aisle?

  • I like window.

I like window because I have this Street Atlas USA map program with a gps. Not only can I see where the plane is over the map but can see what the airspeed is.

Once over Lake Michigan the pilots let ur rip. We exceed the speed of sound. On the way off the plane I mentioned that to one of the pilots. He waffled and said he didn't know because they fly in kilometers per hour. Yeah sure.

  • Window. I want to see the point of impact.

  • Window is my preference, unless the plane is full. I like aisle because my legs are super long and it gets annoying being crunched up for a long flight.

  • I'm rarely in a good mood when I have to step into one of those flying tin cans and my mood worsens significantly if I don't get an aisle seat. And preferably on the left side of the plane because my right knee gets stiff if I can't stretch it.

I'm w/Wiser & Morrison. Like the extra leg room in the aisle & don't care for the middle seat guy leaning over to see out the window.

New item added to my bucket list: Be on the same flight as Perk and see his reaction when he doesn't get an aisle seat. lol

As I mentioned above, I try to get an aisle seat as often as possible. The only two drawbacks to it are when one of the people in your row gets up every 10 minutes, or when you get drinks spilled on you by the stewardess (I've had that happen several times).

  • Here's another pet peave of mine, and maybe I'm alone on this, but tell me what you guys think.

Once the plane lands, and people are starting to walk off the plane, I think it makes sense to let the people in the rows in front of you get out first (unless, for whatever reason, they indicate that they just want to sit there). I think it's rude when someone is trying to get out, but people who were seated behind them keep walking by and don't let them out.

If you want to see it get really bad, pay the person sitting next to me to make useless small talk the entire flight.

lol Consider it done! I love it when they wait till you're asleep, and then decide to wake you up and talk your ear off.

    I agree.

Exception: Plane is really late & flight attendants advise us to let people out that have short connection times. However, in normal situations, it's usually some 50-70 yr old woman that bolts from the back row.

Machlis Screenwriter: John Hughes Film Description: Were it not for its profanity-laden opening scenes, John Hughes' Planes, Trains and Automobiles might have been suitable family entertainment: certainly it's heaps less violent and mean-spirited than Hughes' Home Alone. En route to Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with his family, easily annoyed businessman Neal Page (Steve Martin) finds his first-class plane ticket has been demoted to coach, and he must share his flight with obnoxious salesman Del Griffith (John Candy). A sudden snowstorm in Chicago forces the plane to land in Wichita. Unable to find a room in any of the four-star hotels, Neal is compelled to accept Del's invitation to share his accommodations in a cheapo-sleazo motel. Driven to distraction by Del's annoying personal habits, the ungrateful Neal lets forth with a stream of verbal abuse. That's when Del delivers the anticipated (but always welcome) "I don't judge, why should you?"-type speech so common to John Hughes flicks. The shamefaced Neal tries to make up to Del, but there's a bumpy time ahead as the mismatched pair make their way back to Chicago, first in a balky train, then by way of a refrigerator truck. We know from the outset that the oil-and-water Neal and Del will be bosom companions by the end of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, but it's still a fun ride. The best bit: a half-asleep Del thinking that he's got his hand tucked between two pillows -- until his bedmate, Neal, bellows "Those aren't pillows!" Same, same. Was out of town for about 260 days a year for over 16 years, and flew a lot, some of it long distance. Worst, was a long D flight from Nashville to Anahiem. All available were middle chairs, and I was placed between a fat woman on the window seat, who really stunk of feces, and a VERY fat guy who couldn't even get his seat belt buckled. They had to bring TWO extensions to put him to rights.
