What should I do?

  • This might be a little bit too "Dear Abby" for vothOT but... Here is my issue, my best friend invited me to stay at his place next weekend he wants to take me out in Iowa City for my birthday. He also wants me to meet his boyfriend. The thing I'm worried about is what if the boyfriend hates me? This isn't a new boyfriend they have been together for five years. ( he just came out to me 2 years ago) This is seriously the most nervous I have ever been. I really want to flake out. I'm so scared C won't like me so M won't like me anymore either! Should I just not go so I don't have to worry about it? Or should I just get over it? M really is my best friend in the whole world and I would hate anything changing it. This is so dumb if it was a new relationship I wouldn't even worry. Why have I not met him yet?

    I am over thinking it but that's what I do. The worst that could happen would be I lose my best friend. I know it sounds dumb but I had a girl stop hanging out with me because her boyfriend said I was a trouble maker and a bad influence. ( that's crazy)

    I guess I see people being bi as not struggling with it as much as people who are gay. You know what I mean?

    And now that I actually think about it, they probably struggle with it evern more than gay people. Because they don't know exactly what they want? I don't know, being bi must be really tough, or really fun.

    Ok I see M when he is home visiting family. C does not come with him because it is an awkward situation with his family. When I did go to Iowa City to visit his bf was working once and doing something else another time so its not that weird. The 3 years before that I didn't know about C at all.

  • I almost chickened out. Im only going to be there from like 10 pm till 6 am and I'm sure 3 hrs will be spent sleeping so I can't do anything to bad and make him hate me... I'm also making another friend come with me so maybe it won't be so awkward. Yeah I'm a wimp.

  • I don't know if killing him is a good idea. If I got caught I would have to go to prison and that's scary. Then I would have to worry about my cell mate hating me too.

    perhaps they are not as good of friends as you said.

    I had a friend, his girlfriend who eventually turned into his wife was a real headcase. angry messaging me on facebook, supposedly because they sight of my name stirred up all this anger in her (it must really anger her that her son has the same birthday as me, and to see wedding pictures with me in the wedding party).

    well, over time my friend didn't really keep in contact. I would message him from time to time on facebook with no response. never thought about it too much, he was busy with a new job and whatnot. One night, i saw his name online on facebook and decided to throw out a "hey man, whats up? long time no talk" type of message. when i sent the message he immediately signed out, which led me to one fo two conclusions

    1) that he was not that great of friend to not even say "hey man, gonna get going, hope everything is good" type of response
    2) or his wife was logged on creeping with his profile.

    i deleted him from facebook, because i figured if it was him, then whatever. if it was his wife, i didn't want her to have access to my profile. haven't talked to him since. no sweat off my back. some people come and some people go, and in this life i have about 3 or 4 really good friends who i can count on if I truly needed somebody. . If your friend will all of a sudden stop being your friend because of his boyfriend, then i's time to move on. lifes too short for crappy friends.
