Probably not would be my guess. I love how MMA fans get tagged as idiots or douches, Let us define MMA, one that masters many styles of martial arts and DISCIPLINE.

Today karate is practiced for self-perfection, for cultural reasons, for self-defense and as a sport.

Wrestling, all about discipline and hard work,

Judo, mainly consists of throws, take downs, chokes and some punching and kicking, mainly for self defense

Jiu jitsu, mainly ground techniques and grappling (many variations of this are in the sport)

Boxing possibly the only form of fighting in MMA that was developed as an actual fight to see who the tougher guy was.

All in all MMA is developed to master all phases of the martial arts, and developed by people who do not believe in violence and use it as self defense. But even then they still had tournaments to see who was the best at it and it all involved mutual respect, not hatred for other people.

So like I said and not sure why this is so hard to understand, people that fight at bars are mainly just using it as an excuse to fight, any true mma fan enjoys the sport out of respect of ability. Anyone here going to call Dan Gable a douche bag? Or thousands and thousands of other people that just love the competition and skill that it takes to be a master of all these styles of martial arts.
