What does sports mean to you?

  • I know that's pretty broad. I just love being a fan. Going to games when I can hanging out with other fans and family. Iowa football has really brought my family together. We get together to watch Iowa football a lot. And I really like watching the NBA. I mainly watch Bulls games and I don't get to watch as often as I want to. But the NBA is incredible. It boggles my mind when people would rather watch NCAA basketball, I guess that's another thread.

Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

  • The NBA sucks. Kobe is a ballhawg. LBJ is the greatest talent we've seen this generation and will never be fully appreciated. Like I said, the NBA sucks

Great thread idea. Very broad, but leaves it open to a lot of different interpretations for everyone. It's always been a big part of my life. I've always been extremely competitive, so I love watching other extremely competitive people put it all on the line, especially in a team sport setting.

  • Guys, feel free to start a separate thread on your opinions about the NBA. Let's try to stick to the question in Morrison's original post.

  • I do enjoy getting together with family and friends to watch them.

On a deeper level, I think sports are an important learning tool when kids are younger. There are a lot of life lessons I think that can be learned from sports. A lot has to do with understanding the importance of hard work.

  • I wouldn't have much of a life without them. Going to games, watching on tv, hooping, golfing, skiing, mullet hunting

  • I enjoy sports because I am competetive by nature. Sports on TV is also a good excuse for why you can't do work around the house.
