What are your thoughts on the NBA?

Used to love it when I was a kid. Jordan retired and it got really ghetto (think AI). It has cleaned up a bit in the last few years and I am getting back into it. I have gone to ~10 Rockets games this year. Fun team to watch.

I played basketball for 13 years and refereed it all through college for money. I love the sport of basketball.

Harden is damn good. I was mad Houston got Asik from The Bulls. The Bulls really need a back up center behind Noah.

Guess who's only 1.5 games out of fourth right now? Avery Bradley and Jeff Green are playing at a very high level right now, and if those guys continue that, Boston has a legit shot to get out of the east. I'd love to see the Celtics land the 4th or 5th seed to set up a potential second round matchup with Miami. A lot of people want to put that series off as long as possible since the Heat are so good, but I think the Celtics are more likely to wear down over the course of the playoffs, so they'd play at a higher level a round earlier. And, assuming everyone stays healthy, Boston matches about about as well as anyone does with Miami. Bradley and Courtney Lee can both guard Wade better than most players in the league, Pierce is one of the toughest matchups in the league for LeBron, and Jeff Green can eat up extended minutes against LeBron as well, which will keep Pierce fresh.

  • That's so cute you think The Celtics would get past The Bulls in the first round T Dub. biggrin I am surprised you guys are playing so well without Rondo. I think I heard like 20-4 without him? That's crazy and doesn't make much sense.

I think it's now 13-4. Last night was a huge win for Boston at Indiana, as the Celtics were down by 9 with 4 minutes to go and won in regulation. Check out the game-winning play if you get a chance.

Even with Rose, the emergence of Avery Bradley and Jeff Green and the addition of Courtney Lee makes that a much better matchup for Boston than it used to be. Rondo and Rose had some epic battles, but the Celtics were in deep trouble when Rondo was on the bench and/or not playing out of his mind. Even without Rondo, this team is deeper and more athletic in the backcourt.

Also, while the Celtics do miss Ray Allen's clutch shots, replacing him with Bradley and Lee has made Boston a million times better defensively and more athletic offensively.

The key to Boston playing so well without Rondo has been that Bradley, Lee and Green have all stepped up, and Pierce, Garnett and Terry are playing as you'd expect them to. If you haven't had a chance to watch Green or Bradley play lately, they both look like all-stars in the making right now. The Celtics also acquired Jordan Crawford from Washington at the deadline, and he can provide a scoring punch off the bench as well.

Long way to go, but there's a good chance it won't be Boston-Chicago in the first round. But if it happens at some point, I do think Boston matches up well with the Bulls.

  • Boston and Chicago won't be behind Atlanta and Brooklyn. I don't think so anyways. I can see a 4 vs 5 matchup in the first round. The Bulls need Rose back soon. I know it will take some time to knock the rust off but he would still give them a shot in the arm even playing at 20 minutes a game to start. I still hear people saying he won't come back this year, what a waste if he doesn't. The Bulls never go over the luxury tax but finally do in a year without Rose? Come back soon Derrickprayholy

Pretty funny video of Bulls fans when Derrick Rose got hurt last year. Language is clean except for 1 word in the beginning. Man what does Boozer do? He yells a lot and teams need that. lol

EDIT: I know it's only one word, but links to videos with any cuss words aren't allowed here. - TW

Definitely, and that should give the Celtics some extra confidence if those two teams meet in the playoffs.

I dislike the Celtics, not hate. I hate the Heat, but I just dislike the Celtics. However, Maury's homerism has made me truly dislike the Bulls. He doesn't even talk the Bulls up all that much, but the fact that he says his other team, the Cowboys, could win a Superbowl with Romo makes me hate any other team that he likes. Except the Hawks. Simply because any opinion he gives on the Bulls I just can't take seriously. Because of the whole Romo thing with a different sport.

  • Its weird, I absolutely love college basketball. I can watch it no matter who is playing. The NBA on the other hand, I cant watch it unless its the playoffs. I think part of it is that they make it look so easy at times that it looks like they arent trying. When I know they are trying but perception is everything.

Wow you really do hate Romo don't you? It's ok you aren't alone. Forbes did a top ten most hated athletes list recently. Romo was #10. Kobe was #9.

Well I guess you could call Houston a sinkhole. He plays for The Rockets now, not The Knicks so The mania faded. I don't think he has been playing that well and has been hurt too.

I wouldn't call Houston a sinkhole. I'd consider them an up and coming team in the west. They're definitely better this year with Harden and Lin than they have been in the past. And Maury, it doesn't surprise me Kobe is ranked that high. I can understand why people hate him. But it is HILARIOUS that Romo is on that list.

Yes they are an up and coming team but they aren't in a really big market like New York, LA or Chicago. That's all I meant.

He's still doing well, but Houston doesn't get the same level of attention that New York does. Also, he isn't producing quite at that same level that he did during that 20-30 game stretch last season.

I agree regarding the Houston market. What's strange is that Houston is actually the fourth biggest city in the country behind those three, but a lot of people consider it a small or medium-sized market. The population is much more spread out than in NYC, LA and Chicago, but it's still a huge city.

  • Another big win for the Celtics. Jason Terry is starting to hit clutch shots much more frequently, which was why Boston signed him in the first place. I really don't understand how the national media continues to immediately dismiss this team as a legit title contender, or at least to come out of the East. No one matches up as well with Miami as the Celtics do right now, as Boston is well-equipped to make things much more difficult for Wade and James than other teams can. Assuming both teams are healthy, I don't think Miami wins that series in less than seven games, if at all.
