What Creature(s) Are You Afraid Of

  • For me it's bats. I would probably run over my own mother to get out of a confined space where a bat was flying around. I'm not afraid of spiders or snakes or mice or any other creatures that I have encountered, but bats freak me out.

15 National Championships and one Urban Meyer heart attack, Roll Tide. 23 NC's in wrestling and one badass Herky, Go Hawks.

  • Mice, not as much afraid as I am completely disgusted which makes me afraid, I guess

I'd hate slamming rats too, Froggy. Lots of scratches and what not.

    I hate snakes.

  • Centipedes, millipedes, any of the 'pedes. They give me the freakin' willies something fierce.

  • A few years back we had a few bats in our house. I hit one of them pretty hard with a skillet, and thought I had killed it. I went to pick it up and the bastard bit me. I had to go through rabies shots for that one. No fun.

I will throw in just about any animal that is angry and can eat me in less than 10 bites.

I couldn't agree more. I think I posted my story from this summer on here, when I was fishing with a buddy, and caught a damn bat. It was terrible.

You would have HATED the place I lived my freshman year of college. It was a trailer, in "Shueyville, IA" but was basically in the country. We had a field for a backyard. Lived there with 3 of my best buddies from high school. But the mice problem was terrible. Have so many funny stories.

What kind of bat bait was he using, Lovin? I have been fishing on a lake near us at dusk and they are thick. I would guess they would try to take a fly if you were fly fishing.

  • By the way, I have a very healthy respect for Grizzly bears and moose.

Haha no it was actually me that caught it. We were night fishing for walleye, and I casted out and a damn bat flew into my line in mid-air. It got all tangled up on my line, and I couldn't get it undone because well, the bat was alive and freaking out. Long story short, I drowned a bat that night.

I'm really glad I don't live somewhere that has moose. Deer are bad enough, but from everything I've heard about hitting a moose, it's like hitting a truck.

I can't handle it. I had a friend in high school who's parents both went to prison so she basically lived alone when we were 17. They had a stone wall in the house and you could watch mice climb the wall. I never really had a problem with mice until I stayed there a few night. It wasn't just mice though they had rats too. You could open a drawer in the kitchen and a rat would be in it. Just disgusting. Maybe the mice were just baby rats now that I think about it. Either way they all gross me out.

    Sounds like a dungeon.

Yeah it does. It was actually a really cool place but the rats were eating it. She didn't know what to do about it and probably her older sister should have been checking on her more or she should have had to stay with someone while her parents were gone.

Yeah to me, mice are just miniature rats, they both really disgust me

    Bats are rats with wings.

Yeah I suppose, they really don't bother me as much, probably because I haven't seen them as much as mice, and the few times I have seen rats.

  • I get rats in my garage in the winter. They creep me out a bit. Damn things chewed a hole in the wall and you can hear them in the walls. I haven't noticed any around since I got my cat. Sometimes at night I'll throw the cat in the garage for an hour or so, just to make sure.

Racoons and possum have always kind of freaked me out, too. My parents live on a couple of acres that butt up to woods. It's in the city, but it's still animal kingdom in their yard.

I don't know if you know what pack rats are but I hate them. I don't fear them but I do know how to kill them. They tear up your stuff (my garage) make nests and pee and poop on everything with a very disagreeable odor. Did I mention I hate um?

  • This is in Austin and pretty cool to see. 1.5 million bats fly out from under this bridge every night.

    Austin, TX Congress Bridge Bats

"Crowds gather nightly to watch 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats shoot out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge. Standing atop the bridge, or down below, visitors offer the condemned mosquitoes a last meal while waiting for the bats to make their entrance. Props to the Austin American-Statesman for allowing the use of their parking lot, and their grass to hang out on. Wear a hat. Across Congress Street from the Statesman a sculpture, Nightwing, celebrates the bat. Another convenient-for-tourists (but smaller) bat colony is reported 15 miles north of Austin, underneath the I-35 underpass at McNeil Road, Round Rock. Wear a hat." -http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/10852

True. I haven't hit one but elk are about the same size. I've dodged a few of those. My buddy has hit two. Pretty much puts your ride in the shop for a month.
