We definitely have veterans and I thought there was an active duty Navy CPO posting for a while. Maybe that was on HI or HR or the main board. All us vets will take up the slack if our active members are too busy right now. Some of us can still kick a** or at least think we can. We'll sling S*** until the younger folk get back. We got their backs and fronts.

Thank you for your thanks ihawk and thank everyone I have received thanks from since I have been on this board. We vets didn't get much more than the back of a hand when the Vietnam War was over, even from our own parents (my dad ws a Lt in the Pacific in WWII) and the so called "Greatest Generation". We were called baby killers and worse. In recent times I have received many more thank yous from the younger generations and i appreciate that very much. I am also getting an occasional greeting from the dudes in their WWII and Korea hats. It wasn't our fault that a succession of losers sent american boys off to a war they didn't know how to win and then were willing to cut and run to get out of it. I guess we lost but it was the fault of the regimes of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon that fought it so poorly.
Sorry, that spleen squirting just sort of happens sometimes. I truly am thankful to all of you new patriots.

We were a service family. Dad served in WWII, oldest brother Ed was in the Navy (58-62), next brother Dan was in the AF from (63-67) and then me from (69-73). Dad is deceased but Ed, Dan and I are all proud of our service to our country.
I like the fact your son chose to serve. All of us Lawlor boys volunteered. You should be very proud of him. I know just how scarey it was to get on that bus in Ft Madison and ride off alone to Ft Des Moines before being shipped out to San Diego for bootcamp. I was 19 years old and damn neart peeing my pants. It take some guts to do that and you tell him I am very proud of him for his service.

Yes it was. I got to do some pretty awesome stuff, had a huge security clearance (TS/SI including For The Presidents Eyes Only type stuff) got flown in civiliam cloths all over the place, (some of this I've told before) and I even worked for a year at NCIS (then known as the Naval Investigative Service headquartered in Alexandria, Va). The rest of my service was spent as an electronic spy. Some really cool stuff too. I don't lack for a bunch of good stories from my Navy years, but a few of them I am still hesitant to tell because they may still be classified.

Brad, I can probably scare you with a couple of stories about war, etc., but I don't have much on a UFO basis from the service. However, if I screw up the courage to expose myself to the possibility of ridicule and defamation, I may one day share some info from that realm. One night when I have had a few, maybe I'll send you a pm regarding an adventure from 1967. Sorry, although I would have been cleared to go there, I don't know anymore about Area 51 than most other citizens. That sucker is sealed up tight as a drum.

We don't have any Military people on the board, do we?
