I don't know. Every single picture I just posted is an absolute would for me. There's some incredibly sexy women that fight MMA. Plus this is giving me a great reason to post nice pictures.

  • With this debate, let's not lose sight of the fact that MMA is dumb and I really DGAF what happens with the sport.

But the idea that anyone would change their sex just to have a perceived advantage in a sport is idiotic.

I don't think anyone would change their sex just to be better at a sport unless we are talking 1970's Russia Olympic teams or 1930's German Olympic teams but to not acknowledge the advantages if one did so (for MMA purposes) is more idiotic.

  • Ok first things first,no way should it be able to fight in the womens division if its not a woman, and its not, be like LeBron getting a sex change and them allowing him to play woman's basketball, wouldn't happen. The only way I would say yes is if they had a vote with the women fighters and it is 100% yes vote. For 2 why do you guys think MMA is dumb? I mean opinions are opinions but just curious why. These guys train possibly harder than most any athletes, and make boxers look like hitches (and that is coming from someone raised in boxing) not to mention the fact you have to be highly skilled in so many different styles of combat and combat defense. Its not like this is a bar fight, these guys are highly trained athletes.

I'm not sure that Wolf (I know I didn't) can even to be said that there were absolutely no advantages. Men by genetics have a higher propensity for strength and force generation as due to increased muscle mass and decreased propensity for fatty reserves and therefore again, in the case of 2 equally trained men and women, women are at a significant strength disadvantage.

However you're completely missing the points that just because 1 fighter used to be a man and the other has always been a woman, does NOT necessarily put the woman at a disadvantage, as well as you're repeatedly missing the fact that without the natural testosterone produces by the testes, it does at least in some sense put the fighters on a more equal level, or at least a level more equal than if it was a man and a woman fighting. Lastly, while there may be some strength disadvantages that the MtoF has over the woman, it is still a choice of whether or not the woman fighter actually fights the MtoF, there certainly can always be exceptions to rules and I think in this case there may be one where it would always be the opponents choice of whether to fight the MtoF. Frankly, if the woman fighter agrees to fight the MtoF, there are no longer any disadvantages or advantages as it was a choice by both fighters to participate and it is a decision both would have to live with.

I've just never found it entertaining. I also avoid bars on nights that there's a fight. MMA seems to be the only sport that a lot of fans that watch it seems to think theyre fighters too. Not to mention all the white trash, and affliction shirt wearing people that seem to flock to the ppv events at bars. Its just not my cup of tea. I know not all MMA fans are like that, but no sport has douchier fans than MMA.

I agree with McLovin about the fan stuff. But mostly I don't find any sport where the entire point of it is to physically hurt another person exciting to watch and I find the premise dumb. Sure, football is a violent sport, but that's not the point of the game and they wear protective equipment.

Unless they were a bodybuilder before the sex change, the advantages wouldn't be much, as the hormones that give them that advantaged would be removed. If you want to make an argument about a height/reach advantage you may have something, but not in the area or strength, which is mostly what I've been talking about.

    Boxing?

In MMA if your knocked out, your done. Even if its for half a second, the match is over. In boxing you get 10 seconds to get back up and that could happen multiple times in one fight.

People make it out to be worse than boxing but its not even close to being the bloodsport that ignorant public make it out to be.

Boxing also dumb. Why would you think that wouldn't be included in "any sport where the idea is to physically harm another person"?

I wear Tap Out shirts (too large for Affliction) but not because I think I am tough but because they are a cheap t shirt and I think they are cool. Of course I basically only wear them around the house. And I would also say there are no more white trash fans in MMA than there is for football and football fans can also be drunk, loud, obnoxious and start fights. Maybe it is a location sort of thing all the fans I know of mma are very respectful and watch out of mutual respect for just how good these guys are. I have buddies that fight and out of the ring they are the nicest guys around, in the ring they beat the crap out of the other person (or get the crap beat out of them) then after the fight go out for a drink with the person they just fought. Douches are douches and they just use any contact sport or racing to have a reason to show how much of a douche they are, and these guys are not true fans of the sport and what it is intended to represent. I know just like anything it is not liked by all but it is not fair to judge the fan base off of assholes that just use it as an excuse to fight or get drunk.

This is very true. And one thing I dont like about boxing, if someones eyes roll back in their head but yest can still manage to get up with in 10 seconds, can have severe brain damage done after the fact. I mean some times you get knocked down and you are fine but I have seen many, many times that they had no business fighting after the fact.

I stated that I know not all MMA fans are like that. But a very large percentage is. I stopped going to bars on fight nights because of the fact that I had witnessed fights every single time inside whatever bar I was at. Sometimes multiple fights. I've also had numerous times when I would be walking through a bar, and accidentally bump into someone, and they would try to start a fight with me. That's never happened to me during any other sporting event. And might I add, the majority of the time the people didn't seem very intoxicated. So from my experiences, there's more douchy MMA fans than any other sport. And I'm sorry, but I may make fun of you occasionally for openly admitting you wear Tapout shirts :)

For one I would never go to a bar on a fight night, for 2 if they are getting into fights they are not fans of the sport period. 3 go ahead but what is wrong with wearing Tap Out shirts? Like I said not like I am going out and about in them.

I can understand how as a healer you would feel that way. However, you must admit that the lust for blood sports has deep roots in human culture and spans the globe in many forms, it is not just limmited to MMA. As a former boxer myself, I understand the mentality behind it. I can't explain it, but I do understand it. IMO it has it's roots in our evolutionary genetic code, dating back to when ancient tribes held mock battles to prepare for war against invaders or to invade. Whether my hypothesis is correct or not, you cannot deny that blood sports have been around for thousands of years. From ancient Greeks boxing bare knuckled, to the gladiators of Rome waging life and death battles in the arena, to tribal men in Africa stick fighting, to modern day MMA. I realize this is off topic, but I was hoping to demonstrate that while you find the premise dumb, that bloodsports have been a part of the human culture for centuries, and I don't see them going away anytime soon.

Wow, I've gone to the bars to watch the fights multiple times (PPV is too expensive) and not once have I ever witnessed a fight. And I travel a lot and been to different bars, maybe you need a new bar. Sounds like they could've aired Care Bears that night & fights were going down.

Also not every person that wears a Tap Out shirt or Affliction shirt is an MMA fan, Jersey Shore is proof of this and those guys are tools that like to fight.
