Porn pot or alcohol-and your 12 year old

  • Which one if you found your child possessing, would make you the most upset?

  • I don't know. Not to be sexist but it would really bother me more if my daughter had porn. I would be worried about her ideas and self image and all that crap. It should pry be the same for my son but its not.

  • If I had kids, probably pot. Because that they would actively have to seek that out, as I'd always have booze around. Plus it's not very good for the lungs.

    I don't know if they would actively be seeking it out at 12 years old. Part of the reason I thought of this was I know someone, who has a 12 year old that they just found pot on. Well they found a bag of pot in the laundry and it wasn't the Dads. It was skunk weed pretty much. But I don't think a 12 year old would be seeking that out. I might be wrong. But I could see something like that, as something they could stumble upon. Yeah maybe unlikely, but it could happen.

  • Having 2 teenage boys, I have already caught them with 2 of the 3. (Booze and porn) I was firm but fair, but I think I would have been alot more freaked out if I caught them with pot.

    How old were they with the porn? IMO once it gets to a certain age its almost expected shrug

    I agree. I think if I found porn in my sons room I would probably just pretend I didn't. Maybe just let my husband decide if it needs to be an issue. Seems like something that is none of moms business. But 12 probably is too young to not atleast talk about it.

  • If I found pron in my kids room I'd only get mad because it's too easy to get pron anymore. When we were kids we had to steal dad's magazine and perhaps occasionally you'd make out a scrambled boob on the blocked channels.

    He is four now I'm talking about later on. My daughter is 11 so I will be dealing with these things sooner with her. Kinda freaks me out because I started stealing bottles of mad dog from my dad when I was 12. I started smoking ( cigarettes) when I was 12 too. Hopefully, I'm not as naive as my parents were.
