Oh, Bluz, you're a lawyer

  • I just asked a question on a different board and forgot you practiced in your former life.

I got a "Notice Of Service Attempt" from the Texas supreme court last night in my door. It just said they were trying to serve me legal documents. I can't figure out for the life of me why the Texas supreme court would be.

I've got an LLC that I haven't messed with in about a year, but it's still active and I haven't filed sales tax, even though I know I have to. Besides that, I've got a few collection agencies after me, but that wouldn't have anything to do with the supreme court of Texas, would it?

  • Disclaimer: This is not legal advice and I know nothing about Texas. The rules of service are state-specific, so I can't really comment on this document. I will say, though, that often in some states, documents are labeled with the Supreme Court just because that court controls, not necessarily because the case is filed there. Without seeing the document and looking into, I can't help much. Is there any information in the document that gives you someplace to follow up?

Thanks for responding. Yeah, it just gives a person's name and number on there to call. I'm guessing it's a lawsuit for collections, I just wasn't sure why it would be noted with Supreme Court on it and it's nothing more than a piece of white notebook paper that's typed on, so it doesn't look official at all.

  • I would call the number and find out what is going on. If it is for collections, just tell them you need a demand in writing and handle accordingly.

  • Don't listen to Bluz. You use the paper as toilet paper then return to sender.

No return to sender address. It was stuck in my door like a Chinese menu. But I like your thinking.

Berman, Darlene K. Chan, Dan Kolsrud, Kathy Sarreal Screenwriter: Mark Steven Johnson Film Description: This cheerful holiday comedy, a surprise box office smash, featured a generous dollop of raunchy, crude humor and was greatly elevated by the presence of masterful performers in the lead roles. Jack Lemmon is John Gustafson, an ice-fishing Minnesota native who has been feuding with his neighbor and former best friend Max Goldman (Walter Matthau) for decades. The battle of wills between John and Max is characterized by crude name calling and harmless practical jokes. Max is unaware that John is having serious problems, chiefly that his daughter Melanie (Daryl Hannah) is experiencing marital woes and that his house is about to be confiscated by an officious IRS agent (Buck Henry). When it seems that John and Max may finally put aside their childish rivalry, however, sexy new neighbor Ariel (Ann-Margret) arrives and dates both men, pitting them against each other more fiercely than ever before. Despite their mutual loathing, the death of a friend, John's problems, and a budding romance between Max's son Jacob (Kevin Pollak) and Melanie may force the two old friends to reconcile. • So is this why Perk vanished? He's trapped in a debtors prison in El Paso I bet. I suppose that's really the same as saying he's just stuck in El Paso.
