Need Some Advise

  • I am an adv id bass fisherman And Fish tournaments in a bass fishing club.I have been with this club for about 8 years now and we have lost members over the years b/c of grown men acting like 5 year olds and bitching over every little detail. That being said i let it roll off my back my thing is it costs a pretty good penny to fish after you consider your entry fee, gas in the truck and the boat plus food and drinks and it doesnt cover the expenses if you do win. It's not About the money to me but if i do luck up and win it needs to be worth the time and effort in my opinion. Any suggestions other than stop bitching or deal with it?

  • I dunno. I personally wouldn't fish with a group that I wasn't good friends with and I'd still be selective with those friends. Fishing for me is about peace and quiet. Of course I'd never do competitive fishing, so I wouldn't be in your shoes.

and i am friends with all of them except one d- bag that fish's in the group. Would make it hard to leave the group if thats what i decide to do..

  • I enjoy fishing, but not on a tournament level, and I don't really know the details of bass clubs or such as and such as.

Do you love to compete at fishing or do you just love to fish?

That may be too simplistic, my advice is if you love to compete, then compete; if you just love to fish, then just fish.

The will is not here, the will is at my office next to the hot plate with the frayed wires.

Then I guess I'd just look at the expenses as part of enjoying your hobby. Any money you win is a bonus!

  • I've participated in one or two tournaments over the years. I am an avid fisherman but never found much joy that style of fishing. I found the tournaments I entered to provide one more of those microcosms of the human condition. Peopled with fun guys, dick heads, morons, drunks, joy killers, riotous goofballs, serious beyond belief cut their mothers throat for a one oz advantage, and so on. Are there any other clubs in your area? You may want to check around. If the dip shit is making life sucky on the fishing circuit, perhaps a come to jesus meeting with the organizers or sponsers might be in order. Get some powerful backing and then go tell the guys to straighten up his act or he will be fishing alone at the sewer outlet just across from the Iowa State Pen in Ft Madison.
