  • Ok now that i have your attention, to all those that come and go what can we do to keep yall here, I mean if you say lack of posters we wouldn't have that issue if you all stayed. We pretty much killed the pond so what else can we do?

    Just tell people that this is an exclusive site and they can't come in here. People will swarm this place thinking they are getting away with something by posting in here. Nobody likes to be told they can't go somewhere, I mean what's the first thing you do when you're told not to do something? You do it right?

  • If you want tons of traffic, you'll have to allow Politics and Religion, imo. People love to debate and argue on these forums. Also, I think people don't like how gifs work here. Without arguing and gifs, that's pretty much 90% of the traffic on HROT, anyways, and they get a ton of traffic. But I'm not sure you want the kind of traffic HROT gets because it brings tons of garbage and trolls. I did notice when I posted a link to the thread on this site about the guys daughter getting in a fight on HROT that the traffic here got up to ~700.

    Yep, I agree, but that is what drives traffic. I guess the OP was more about keeping those that have been here around. I check out the board 10-20 times a day depending on my work load and what I'm doing at home. I really enjoy lurking the sports board and you all are really fun too. I find the fish pond crew thread is really hard to break into and that's where a lot of people here hang out. That's just my 2 cents but I plan on sticking around.

    I agree about the FPC. When I was new here it seemed kind of cliquish, and I can see where that would turn new posters off.

    this...and what happens is once everybody figures out which way everybody else leans, then any thread not even about politics will usually get derailed with a post about politics.

  • I wanna be a clique, I wanna be a clique. They wouldn't let me join in Jr High School so I formed and anti-clique clique and accused them of being cliqueish. Those cliques didn't want to join my clique and they certainly would not let me, an avowed anti-clique clique member to join their clique that was much more cliqueish than our clique.
    We are planning our 45tgh high school reunion for the 1st weekend in Oct and at each Reunion Committee meeting, there is at least some conversation regarding the cliqueishness of our class (Ft Madison 1968) and how some people are still angry at others because of the cliques that formed lo those many years ago. Now wait a minute, what the hell am I talking about?

    It dont bother me, mainly because I dont pay attention because I cant stand talking and or arguing about it. Her family does enough of that for a life time
