Might be, but I love his radio show. Don't care for him on tv, but I love the radio show.

  • A buddy of mine always tries to get me to listen to his show, especially that smackoffs. Too many inside jokes/late to the party.

However, I do enjoy when the Super Sklars host.

He went to long and Rome ran (stopped) his call.

He had me rolling on that Tim Tebow part though.

    Sklars are GOAT.

So funny when they're guest hosting

yes, however I learned they're best in small doses. They have (had?) a podcast called Sklarboro Country, which was awesome....for about 5-6 episodes. It started getting a little tired. Then they had Janeane Garofalo on, and I realized the show was doomed.

My favorite Sklar rant was "Ed Hardy Clothing = Clown Diarrhea"

I'm a big Rome fan. Rarely have time to listen to his radio show, but used to watch his show on ESPN at least a few times a week. Thanks for the link - will definitely check it out.

  • Quick aside - was there any back story as to why he left ESPN? He's a million times better than LeBatard and Around the Horn, and I liked his show more than PTI as well. So hopefully it wasn't ESPN's decision to not renew him.

He's with CBS now. Network deal. He's got a show on the CBS sports channel

UFC fighter and a big mouth.

He's quite the character. No real filter. Rome has him on the show from time to time. When Rome interviews either him or Brian Wilson it's pretty entertaining radio,

I still can't believe he won that GD thing.

That's what I'd heard, but why did he make that move? A lot of people don't even have that channel, and I assume his show was pretty popular on ESPN.

I kinda wondered that too. It seemed like ESPN had to problem jacking his show around for other programming so that might have played into it. Just seemed like it was never on very solid ground.

I'd have to imagine getting a shot with one of the big 3 was very enticing as well. Might be able to parlay it into other opportunities within the CBS family?

I'm totally guessing here so I could be waaaaay off base.

One of the few to dominate anderson silva in the UFC. Rogan just had him on a podcast the other day. If you want to learn a little more about UFC and the past, it's a great listen

Using steroids helped him with that.

15 National Championships and one Urban Meyer heart attack, Roll Tide. 23 NC's in wrestling and one badass Herky, Go Hawks.

Interesting you say that given the clearance he was given for testosterone therapy today actually. That is what I always thought until I read the real story.

I've got a MMA fighter friend. The deal is that these guys use to juice so much before it was regulated, that they depleted their natural testorone production. White realizes this so he allows TrT as long as the testorone levels are that normal of a man that age naturally.

Chael did test positive for the juice and he failed badly with very high levels.

Makes no sense for ESPN to not beg him to stay. The fact that Dan LeBatard has his own show is a complete joke, and I'd honestly watch Rome over PTI or Around the Horn any day.

Just got a chance to listen to the top 5. I honestly thought 2-5 were all better than the caller that won. What'd you think?

Bout fell off my chair when he named the winner. The more he's played Sonnen's call I do find myself appreciating it a bit more.

I really thought Mike in Indy should have won. Iafrate second, then draw names out of hat after that. Almost all of the calls were really strong this year.

  • Todd, you might like this site.

Someone (Rome has no idea who) went through a lot of trouble to archive all of the past Smack Offs.

You can go through year by year and Clone by Clone and listen to all of them.

Awfully good site if you're a fan of the show, or for someone trying to figure out what it's all about.
