If I'd gotten my point across through the arrogance of such a stupid rule than you wouldn't finish your post of with such an ignorant statement. It's starting to become clear that the arrogance of this rule is not the result of a reasonably thought out decision, but more from a misplaced sense of morality where you think you're doing "someone" a favor and that your strict totalitarian control of this rule without even the slight consideration of a reasonable argument against it is fully driven by an act of individual egoism.

Der it's really a common rule for message boards like this. I know you think it shouldn't be that way but it is. I don't know what to say. But it really isn't that crazy.

  • Also, if you ban "cursing" (btw how outdated is that word? that's from the middle ages where people thought these words actually put curses on each other, hence the still irrational feeling against them), then you absolutely must ban ALL forms of "cursing," including if someone just spells s*** for shit. If everyone knows what the word is than it's still cursing, so either ban it all or ban nothing.

Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.

Some places do that. Please don't make them do that.

60 years ago is was common and accepted to use racial slurs against black people and make them sit at the back of buses. Just because it's common doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean that it can't, and that it shouldn't change. The only way you fight against stupid rules is to do something about it.

I will follow your lead Der. Let's do this. Let's take the power back.

That's not exactly the issue. The mods can keep their power to ban, delete, or lock anything they want without the slightest of consideration to any other opinions and holding their own word as law, I don't care about that. What I do care about is a little mutual respect where they can admit that grown ups can handle a few middle age curse words.

And as has been stated an incorrigible amount of times, this is a public forum that has many more readers than posters. The maturity of the posters is not the issue.

I know you guys feel that way. But Der does make some good points. I also get the kids thing. But really if that's a main point that's weak, parents should be monitoring kids online activity. I really don't see the need for it but I also see Der's side of why isn't it allowed. It's actually pretty interesting if you think about it.

Oh I'm very sure you really are sorry. You should run for a seat in Congress. Your steadfast irrationality to any form of discussion or reasonable argument would fit well in such a self-entitled world.

i mean, do we go through all the videos in the "songs about getting high" thread and listen to each one to moderate for cursing? I haven't been there lately, maybe they nailed all the cypress hill songs and the dre song i linked?

This is a public forum with irrational, totalitarian decision making by the mods. The off-topic board has more readers than posters? Anyone who spends their day reading an off-topic forum and never talking themselves has more problems than seeing a few "curse" words being thrown around and honestly, I don't know why their opinions should somehow be taken into consideration anyways, they either speak up or their opinion doesn't matter on the issue. Same idea goes to reader-only types on the main board.

Maturity of the posters is not the issue? Please tell me, what is your grand contribution to the world by banning "curse" words on a forum which to our knowledge has a group of ~20 people who post and ACTUALLY read some of this stuff, until someone else speaks up, your argument is completely invalid.

Yeah, wouldn't want to hurt any delicate sensibilities!!!! The mods should now have to go back through all of that and delete every single link that contains a single "curse" word!!!!!!

i just think it is weird how much of a uproar people get in over a curse word or a "wardrobe malfunction" (when their children hear worse in school, and fap to worse on the internet), yet they have no problems allowing their children to watch much of the violent programming that is on primetime tv.

They're all hypocrites. All of them. Sometimes it's better for people to be offended, it helps them join the real world where few others subscribe to their trash.
