If you could go to any sporting event in history

  • Where would you go? Money isn't an issue.

  • Iowa Hawkeye BCS Championship or whatever they are calling it in the future game. The Masters would be pretty sweet also.

  • I'd pick game 6 of the 98 NBA Finals. If I had to pick any Iowa related event, it'd probably be The Catch game or Kinnick's Heisman Trophy speech.

Good one. If TV counts I did three of those. Does the Twins and Yankees with my Dad in Minny before domes count? That was way good fun.

Watched the Ali fights on bw tv in the tv room in the basment of Hillcrest when it was new. Not the tv, Hillcrest.

And hey Wiser, if you do another old joke on me, I won't be as nice as last time. Just sayin......

Age is relative. You're not old if we compare you to the pyramids biggrin.

But cereally, that would have been cool to see. My dad's never been to an Iowa game (he's not as big a fan as I am, though). I hope to get my folks out here sometime soon for a game.

  • It's tough to pick just one, but here are the first ten I thought of:
-1979 college basketball championship game between Magic's Michigan State and Bird's Indiana State.
    -1985 Iowa vs. Michigan
    -Jackie Robinson's 1947 debut
-Game 7, 2010 NBA Finals, Celtics at Lakers
    -Clay vs. Liston from 1964
-Miracle on Ice (though I'm not that into hockey)
-1968 Olympics (Bob Beamon's miracle long jump and Smith/Carlos' 200M and podium salute)
-2002 Iowa at Minnesota (my personal favorite Iowa game of my lifetime)
-The debut of basketball in Springfield, MA in December 1891
-1988 Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma St in Tokyo. Barry Sanders won the Heisman Trophy that morning, then went out and ran the ball 44 times fro 332 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead his team to a 45-42 victory.

1986? Texas Bowl, when Chuck Long torched Texas
2004 Cap One Bowl vs LSU; Tate to Holloway
I've been to a lot of Iowa Bowl games, but missed that one, although
watching it anywhere was pure euphoria.

TPC at Sawgrass.......is on my personal bucket list.
    Kentucky Derby, also

I was at the Cap 1 game and have told this a couple times elsewhere. But the people right behind were just some locals watching the game. After LSU scored late they said, well let's go and got up and left. headslap

That was something I will never forget. And after the game we were at a bar and one in our group was talking to some LSU fans. LSU fans are great by the way if you didn't know. And he was pretty damn drunk saying, but how did it feel to lose like that? I am mean really I'm not trying to screw with you but how did it feel to lose like that? Ahhhhh memories.

Being a Reds fan, I would have rather gone to Game 7 of that series. lol

I think he should work harder! and true, besides drinking, I'd see no other reason to go there. shrug
