I haven't had pizza in probably 6 months.

  • No real reason and I love the pie. I just got a hankerin' for it and might order one. I got nada in the fridge and probably should eat because I'm on beer 14 or 15 as it is and haven't eaten. Anyway.........

What's your go to place and style? I like to keep it simple. maybe some extra cheese and pepperoni.

I almost always go with local, because I'm big on supporting local business, but my neighborhood isn't great with good pizza joints that deliver.

  • We have a place here called Turonis. It's amazing. Thin crust with sausage crumbles is the best.
I'm like you, I like supporting local over chains. However, if I go chain it's Papa Johns and that garlic sauce!

OldOaken247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.

  • I've had Pagliai's twice this week, including tonight. drool Pagliai's and Pizza Hut are my go-to's unless it's free or frozen.

I think I've eaten that garlic sauce with a spoon before.

Funny thing is, the best local place around my house was opened by a Cyclone a few years ago (I live in Texas and am a Hawk fan).

I think it's about the only place in town where you can get a taco pizza, too.

I'm not against Pizza Hut, because I think almost all pizza is good, but putting Pagliai's and them in the same sentence makes me a little upset with you, der.

no I understand your concerns and will take them into consideration. Those are the only 2 places in town that I really eat, unless I'm drunk and get Mesa of course. So unless I was going to split them up into the obvious as the place I get delivery from (Pizza Hut) and the place where I will actually go to for the pizza (Pagliai's), just seems unnecessary.

I've always loved Pizza Hut breadsticks. I don't know what it is about them, but they're my favorite. Just the old school bread sticks they have. I like their pan pizza, too. It's a nice buttery crust.

But Pagliai's, oh lawwdy that stuff is good.

Agreed, I love getting the $5 breadsticks and 2-liter deal when I get Pizza Hut delivered and Pagliai's is just absolutely incredible.

Ya know what's weird. I drink a ton of beer and very little soda, but a cold can of Coke classic with pizza makes me a little orgasmic. I like beer with it, but I prefer cola.

  • Speaking of the W & P, I really need to head over to the one in Ankeny. I love deep dish chicago style with spicy sausage. Never was a big fan of thin crusts.

When I make pizza at home, usually it's taco. drool

We were there a few years back with my (now) in-laws. It was just as good as the one in IC, from what I remember. Very good food if you like deep dish. I know others that love their thin-crust, but I've never ordered it.

Felix and Oscars on Merle Hay used to make a good deep dish. Have you been there? I'd be curious to know it it's still good. It wasn't as good as W&P (in IC at least), but it's close to you.

We have, I kind of have the same feeling. Decent, but not as good as W & P, but a lot closer than A-town.

  • I used to make a mean deep dish in a cast iron pan on the grill. Might try to see if I still have the touch today.

Make one. Essentially put taco stuff on a pizza crust. Piece of cake.
