Finals suck

  • I've been here at Hardin since 12 something and will be here until they close at 12. Then I'll probably head to the IMU for a few hours before I go to bed tonight. I have no tests tomorrow so I'll have another day just like this one. Then my string of tests. How were finals for all you old folk back in the day?

  • 3 papers for one class? did you not have any the rest of the semester?

I have a cumulative final tomorrow (40 lectures of about 60 slides each, and the accompanying 25 labs or so), then a Geriatrics test wednesday over about 17 lectures that I haven't started, and a physcial diagnosis practical wednesday afternoon that I also haven't looked at yet. It's not that I'm lazy, I was busy with 3 tests last week, too.

The worst in undergrad was first semester soph year, I had 3 back to back to back finals starting at 7:30am on Friday of finals week. The first 2 were cumulative (principles of bio 2 and organic chem 1), and the 3rd one was an open book stats final. I think I had a paper due that week, too. Needless to say, I didn't study for the stats as I was much more concerned with bio and orgo chem.

I got a 50% or 60% on an open book final and dropped my grade from a Strong A to a B. She made it really difficult and by then I'd hit the wall and no amount of caffeine was helping. Oh well, if I had to do it again, I still wouldn't have studied for it and focused on the other 2 classes.

We had 4 papers already and I've gotten A's on them all. Instead of doing 2 more papers he assigned us small assignments for every reading that we had to do then write an essay at the end. Obviously, I slacked and did them all last week. And damn, that day must have been hell.

  • I've studied about 6 hours each for both of my finals so far. I'll live with the consequences.

  • western civ brings back memories..i took all 3 of those courses. i really enjoyed history but they were still relatively tough.

finals do suck but there are few things in life that i've experienced that feel as good as when you walk out of the building from your last final knowing you studied your balls off and are done with the summer ahead of you. you got a little extra cash from selling your books off and you can taste that first beer as you leave the building. so yeah as much as finals really blow it kinda seems worth it once you exit the building with the gratification you feel.

i guess a similar feeling for me these days is walking out of the office the last day before a vacation. knowing you have several paid days off in front of you is an amazing feeling. usually the last day before you take a lengthy vacation is like finals week in that you have 100 things you have to make sure are covered while you're gone.

  • I dont miss finals at all. I hated school and was lucky to graduate (with a 2.4GPA!!!! What what?). I loved partying though... I would not have gotten my degree if it werent for adderall. Thanks modern science!

  • Happy to be done with that. Finals are the biggest bunch of hell right before summer. But that cold frosty beer after your last final is heaven.

  • The only problem is I'm stuck in the damn dorms for until Friday night (parents in Canada). Also, I begin working full time next Monday and it runs until the Friday before classes resume, so I'll be more busy this summer than I am right now.

Sounds like my summers, I worked for Pepsi merchandising. Getting up for work at 4:45 sucked...a lot.

I moved myself home. But I drove a big car (92 towncar. Should have called it the S.S, Lincoln) and didn't have much for furniture. Also I usually took some of the stuff I didn't need (winter clothes, etc) home over spring break.

Yeah, basically cleaned everything out this last weekend. I'd move myself home but my sister drives my vehicle to school so that my parents didn't have to buy her a car.

  • Finals are a pain in the ass. My first 2 were on Monday, probably my hardest two finals as well, luckily they were spaced out well so I ended up just studying on Sunday for the first one and Monday afternoon/night to study for my 8-10pm final. Not quite sure how good of a grade I'll be getting on that last one though....Human Anatomy...grumble

  • So my Calculus final last night was a total joke. The teacher came in (full on Asian), not that I disrespect Asians, because I don't, but seriously, can you please speak some english? Anyways, she comes in and puts this sign up on the board saying "Test is difficult. Don't aim 100% you pass if you get 30%." At this point I almost just left, and I wish I would have. That final was not calculus, believe me.

  • I always wondered the point of writing exams (biology, chem, and orgo chem are notorious for it) that the average is 50%. People who take those classes aren't dumb, study their butts off, and still miss almost half the questions. Makes no sense.

  • I just finished my last SPAL (standardized patient assessment lab). Got a 100% on the physical, we'll see how well they score my write up.

Test this morning kind of sucked. I've slept 5 hours total since I got up sunday morning.

But I have a Bell's Hopslam in hand that I've been saving, and to my pleasant surprise a Yankee game is on. Gonna be a good night, fellers.

Yeah, its just dumb. If you have to curve the class that much you might as well make the tests easier. Its ridiculous to give tests that most people will do that bad on.

I still have one test left but it should be cake. I'm not worried at all about it and I finished the 3rd and final paper earlier today.

Anatomy final was Monday night, I'm slightly scared to find out my grade from it. If you know anything about Athletic Training you could help me though, I know the questions on the actual test because it's an online final that we have 2 chances at.

  • I somehow pulled a B on that Calc final. Then again, a 45% was a B for the final. Man, that class is insane. A 25% to 50% is a C for the midterms and 50-75& is a B. I got a B on the first, C on the second, and a B on the final.. hoping for a B in the class with the curve.
