Dallas fires Rob Ryan

  • Well Der looks like they have to draft defensive line in the first now. They have to be switching to 4-3 with this move. I honestly don't get it. He did damn good for a patch work defense. Would have been a lot better off with a healthy defense and a true 3-4 NT. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Ratliff is better in the 4-3 and Ware, Bruce Carter, and Sean Lee should be fine. There is talk about hiring an OC as well. pray

The move to the 4-3 makes a lot of sense, I think it fits Anthony Spencer a lot better and I just don't think we had the interior DL to make the 3-4 effective. I also think we probably have 3 LB's who are starter quality and would be more effective in a 4-3, Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, and 1 of the others should make for a lot better front 7 than in a 3-4. I can only hope that Ware actually learns how to keep contain on run defense.

A new OC would be awesome too, I hate Garrett's offense. Hopefully they actually hire someone competent because it was pathetic.

Also, if Jerry drafts DL in the 1st instead of OL, he really needs to be shot in the face with a ballistic knife.

  • I know you blame an injured Ware for that last game. But the LBs have to make plays too. Don't think a 1 armed Ware should get all of the blame. Interesting you say that about Spencer. I don't think they bring him back if they go 4-3. Why do you think he would be better in 4-3? He did his job pretty well in 3-4 being a run stopper mostly. Don't you need more of another pass rusher in the 4-3?

I think they could draft his replacement in the first and pay a lot less than the 10 million a year or whatever he was going to get if they resign him. They still need to upgrade the offensive line. I wish they could do that in the 1st round. Should be an interesting off season for Dallas. Lots of holes to fill. They have to rock the Draft.

I did like Ryan's quote about it.

Yeah he was right. Is this the one you mean?

"I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better," Ryan said. "I (expletive) made them a hell of a lot better. I'll be out of work for like five minutes."

"I think I did a good job and I think our staff did a good job on defense trying to compete with what we had at the end of the year," Ryan said. "But the best job we did was when we were able to coach our starters."

  • I'm starting to see why everyone hates Dallas. Well at their fans. I have seen all kinds of Dallas fans saying Lovie Smith will be the next DC. WTF?! And they are serious. Like he would turn down a head coaching job somewhere just to be DC at Dallas?

This would not surprise me, IF he doesn't get another head coaching offer. He has 3 interviews and then he is open game.

If? I hate the bears as much as the next guy, but the Jags would love to have an at least .500 season. Something that Lovie Smith has done 6 of his last 8 seasons.

He has experience and there are a lot of openings. He just finished a 10-6 season, he'll find a HC job.

Yeah I actually could see him in Buffalo. He will be a HC somewhere. I'm still scratching my head at The Bears for getting rid of him.

This is why I blocked you again and only came to post in this thread because the news made me happy. Ware wasn't the reason we lost week 17, however my point of him being a retarded ass-child and giving up multiple big plays in the form of RGIII torching him on running plays still stands. If he doesn't be a complete retard and actually makes 1 or 2 of those plays, the game might have ended up as a win for Dallas although to be honest I got hammered during/after the game and don't remember in the slightest what the final score was, nor do I want to know. Spencer isn't worth $10M a year, there's no doubt about that and if that's what he's trying to get, good luck to him because I don't think anyone will give him that, FWIW however, I think he would be a better fit in the 4-3 since that's what he played in as a college DE at Purdue and his skill-set probably doesn't fit as well to a 3-4 OLB as people might have thought previously.

  • Thought Ryan's quote after getting fired was hilarious...

"I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better," Ryan told ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon. "I (expletive) made them a hell of a lot better. I'll be out of work for like five minutes."

And you don't even listen to me. Ware was there to contain so the LBs can come in and make plays. He may have looked foolish a few times but he had zero help is my point. But you just put me down like always. So whatever.

He will get hired. He only had 2 years at Dallas. The first had no training camps because of the strike. Hard to install a defense with no off season. And he didn't have the greatest players to work with to start. Next year he gets his players but the entire middle of the defense is hurt for most of the year. I mean they didn't tear it up this year. But I think it's kind of unfair he got fired considering. Seems he is just being the scapegoat so Garrett can stay there another year.

My advice to you, and please take this seriously, get glasses. All 4-5 or whatever times Ware was torched, RGIII broke contain on WARE'S SIDE and RGIII got 10+ yards EACH run.

I don't disagree with him (or you) at all. Just think it's funny that he actually said what a lot of coaches would love to say on the way out. I'd be surprised if he isn't a coordinator elsewhere in the near future.

And Ware was seriously banged up all year and you want to go out and replace a hall of famer? Ware is the least of my worries with Dallas. Look I know we all expect Ware to make plays but he couldn't. And he had scrubs off the street behind him. I'm willing to give him a pass on that. He has proven himself in the past and Dallas shouldn't be looking to replace him for a few more years IMO.
