Thanks for your service, and feel free to post a lot more!
Sorry I went over the line Todd. Had spent some time talking about the war with another Vietnam war era vet. Made me sensitive to the issue when I started my rant. As Kornheiser says sort kinda, "I'll try to do better"
I probably post the most on the OT board of the vets.

Not sure I knew you were a vet too. If you'd told us before, I apologize for it slipping my mind. Thank you!
I think I've mentioned it. Marine Corp here.
Sorry I missed it. Thanks again!
You're welcome. But don't think I had it too rough..yeah, MCRD in San Diego was a giant pain in the ass, but I got to shoot things and my MOS involved me getting to see things get blown up. I was having the time of life when I tore my knee up for the 2nd time and they discharged me. My only regret is that I didn't get to be active longer. I really wanted to travel and serve in combat.
That sucks about your knee. But it sounds like it was still a great experience that you'll never forget. I assume your knee is now fully healed? If so, would you ever consider going back? Or have you moved on at this point?
My knee is technically healed now. It will bother me from time to time though. It was a few years ago now. I'm married, have a big boy job, and a house. The time has kind of passed for it.
I gotcha. That's still neat that you were able to do that for as long as you did!
