My bad - completely forgot about the decade of hatred and bitterness that have built up in the legendary Iowa-Purdue rivalry. Won't happen again.
I doubt Oak is very happy right now. But damn, That was a great Indiana game.
He came here to escape his depression and you drag him back down into the abyss kicking and screaming. I hope you're happy.
I just wanted him to get down to our feelings from last night.
That is an acceptable justification, carry on.
Sometimes, not often but sometimes less is more
True, that was a great game. Might have saved Illinois' season if they can turn it around from here.
That's more like it!
Who are you again?
Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
Actually this isn't true. I haven't read Marx, nor do I know his specific definition of a Communist state, but theoretically you don't need an equal pay scale (meaning job-job, not ethnicity/sex/etc.) and you can also have a governing body in a true Communist state. I actually took a class at Kirkwood where we discussed how this would actually work.
Basically the payscale in at least this theoretical Communist society would work similarly to our free market system where job pay is determined by things like need, importance, value (as determined by peers), etc. You would still have all of the same jobs from sports coaches to heads of state, however not all jobs are created equal and not every worker is equal in terms of ability. Why should a plumber make the same as an astrophysicist? Pay wouldn't fluctuate as wildly as it does in a free market and theoretically everyone would be given a liveable wage so some people wouldn't need to work 3+ jobs either.
Kind of tried to sum that up since I'm about to go to sleep, but needless to say, yes it is possible to have a power-trip Communist ala Joseph Stalin.

Guys, let's steer the discussion away from politics.
Fish did it Todd, read it all and ban him
Yeah that's my bad. I do appreciate Der's post, but we've started drifting into dangerous waters. Anyway, carry on with the ban Fish talk
I just want your job,so you know I will continue the ban Fish talk
You don't want my job.
