I am a student at the University of New Mexico and I was hoping to get some of your takes on Alford for an article I am writing.
Whether you love him (seems to me that very few do in Iowa) or hate him, I just need some opinions on him to help me write this article.
My mother always taught me if I can't say something nice, don't say anything at all....
....but even she would say Steve Alford is a prick and a dirty, lying, pathetic, arrogant, sleazy, low life, rape-enabling horse's ass.
Or as Clark W. Griswold put it:
Thanks for stopping by, AP. My brother is out there at UNM, finishing up his doctorate.
As for Alford, my insight is that douchers gonna douche.
The will is not here, the will is at my office next to the hot plate with the frayed wires.
Would not walk across the street to urinate on his face if his head was on fire. Oh and what everyone else said.
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.
Hate posting from my phone

Welcome to VOTHOT ap28vkngs. I hope you will stick around and post outside of this thread and get to know some the clowns here. We're really a good bunch who enjoy having fun and giving each other crap. As you can gather there are no Steve Alford fans on this site, and there is no love loss for him throughout the entire fan base. Outside of the fact that he replaced a very good coach and never saw the success that Tom Davis saw at Iowa, he was arrogant and enabled a rapist. For more info on that I refer you to the linked article.
Too many have forgotten exactly what Alford did in the aftermath of that incident in Iowa City on September 6, 2002. Chicago News, Sports, Weather, Traffic, and the Best of Chicago - CBS 2 TV | WBBM Newsradio 780 | 670 The Score
I think Bernstein (who I do not like on the radio, BTW) took it waaaay too easy on Stevie Hair Gel. I just can't believe that he parlayed his coaching ability into a gig at UCLA! The only thing that makes me feel better about it is the thought of what will happen in about year 2 when the UCLA expectations and the LA media combine to make his life miserable.
Life is hard. It's really hard if you're stupid.
Here's a hilarious article from the LA Times...
There's little to get excited about as UCLA introduces its new basketball coach.
Ol Greasy Steve is a big time doucher.

You have probably gathered by now, that nobody here is going to have much good to say about the guy. He showed us lots of ego but not much for results.
Post us a link to your article, we would love to read it.
Before there was space or time there was rock and roll.
I would be interested.
I would too. Wish OP would have stuck around a bit.
Also, there's this that good 'ol Patrick Vint wrote. You've all probably seen it already.
An Iowa fan provides some perspective on UCLAs new basketball coach.

There's something you should know about rule #1.
What about Rule#1?
Well, crazy thing. We kind of had to bend it a little.
Yeah, I'd say we, uh, bent it a lot. Damn near broke the thing off.
Cotdamn movie is hilarious.
His hair never moves.
That's a great read Bleed. Upvote that.
That was a good one Bleed, thanks. Upvote 2.
One time he gave my cousin and I an autograph. I was probably like 12 and I have this odd feeling that I used it to pick up our dogs poopies with.

I'm watching this high school all star 3 point contest, and theres a kid with the last name Alford, that went to high school in New Mexico, that is going to UCLA now. I never knew he had a son let alone 2 sons that were good at basketball. Sounds like the youngest Bryce has 2nd highest career scoring total in New Mexico high school basketball history. Am I just out of the loop for not knowing about this?
Steve Alford will take both of his sons to challenging job at UCLA.
He's been talked about quite a bit on the boards. I've heard he's a legit D1 player, but I've never seen video or anything of him. His AAU coach said recently that he will be the best shooter to ever play at UCLA. That coach probably should not have said that.
I just posted in the FPC thread that he's playing in a 3 point contest right now on CBS. Just scored a 20 in the 2nd round, that's not bad at all.
