Post all things NFL free agency here -
So, I was initially pretty upset that the Vikings traded Harvin but I feel like they received a pretty good deal. They would have had to pay big bucks to keep him, and it definitely appeared Percy wanted out. The last 2 years they've made it a point to get younger and it seems to have turned the franchise around. It sounds like the Vikings are close to signing Cassel too, which I don't know how I feel about. Something had to be done about Ponder, but I'm not sure this is the answer. They also resigned Simpson which he probably deserved because of the suspension and injuries. Hopefully he can step up as a true deep play threat. If the can get Greg Jennings and snag a WR or two from this deep rookie class, I'll be feeling much more comfortable. I think the Vikings will also make a run at Urlacher as he wil plug right into the Tampa 2.
There's a ton of other activity as well to discuss, thoughts?
Leon Washington to the Patriots.
Cassell to the Vikings?
Rumors of Victor Cruz to The Patriots.
Ravens contacted James Harrison.
Better than Joe Webb, right?
He is going to compete as starter. You don't think he can beat out Ponder?
He SHOULD be able to depending on who he's throwing the ball too. It might not matter unless they get some help at WR. What's funny is Ponder averaged 6.1 yds per attempt and AP averaged 6.0 per rush! LOL
That is funny. I wonder did they go after Mike Wallace at all? I guess it wouldn't be smart to go after Cruze since they would have to give up their 1st round pick. Where are they at in drafting what number?
I heard on the radio one of Minnesota's offensive lineman said after Harvin got traded something like, Man I can't even tell you who one of our receivers is.
23rd and I think they got a 26th for Percy.
I'm intrigued by Atlanta signing Steven Jackson - I like it. I think the Lions over payed for Bush and same with the Dolphins and Wallace. Amendola to Patriots is a nice pickup. Also glad Greene got paid and hopefully make an impact for the Titans.
Would you want them to give up one of their 1st round picks to get Victor Cruz? He is restricted so if they make him an offer and The Giants don't match it they get your 1st round pick. I guess I don't know which one, probably the best one. I think it works something like that anyways.
I like Bush to the Lions.
He's not an every down back, which is OK since the Lions don't run all that much, and they have Kevin Smith and Joie Bell for the tough yards. He also can catch well out of the backfield which plays well in the the passing attack.
It can't do anything but improve the Lions meager running game.
Have the Lions really had a running back since Barry? The Cowboys really haven't, Barber was ok for a couple years. Murray is promising but the dude gets hurt a lot.
None really worth mentioning. It appeared Jhavid Best had a great future ahead but he might be permanently done with concussion issues.
The rumor is Detroit reached out to Urlacher and he wouldnt even talk to them. I dont see him going anywhere in the NFC North. Apparently, he has a hatred for those teams. I think he re-signs with Chicago at $3-$4million. 1-2 year deal.
I was surprised too, but I hear the are going for Jennings, but he is going to have to come down in price, Cassel sucks I am not happy they signed him, Ponder isn't the answer either. All I know is they better do something to take the burden off A.P or he is going to leave, he can't do it all and stay healthy no matter how much of a beast he forever, the body just won't take it. And like I said in another post I think Urlacher is just testing the waters to get what he wants out of Chicago, But Greenway and Urlacher would be one hell of a combo
I respect the hell out of that. It's tough to find players that don't have money as priority #1.
He met with Minnesota, so thats not 100% accurate
Danny Woodhead to The Chargers.
He didnt meet with Minnesota. Minnesota called his agent. Big difference.
Ah misunderstood I guess, someone told me he was there.
Doesn't matter anyway I don't see him anywhere but Chicago
Where do you guys think Ed Reed ends up at?
Denver forced to cut Elvis Dumervil because his agent faxed his contract in 6 minutes late. Whoops.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – These could be the final hours of Elvis Dumervil's career as a Denver Bronco. The Broncos and Dumervil face a deadline of 4 p.m. Eastern to decide if Dumervil will take a salary cut in 2013
