there was nothing there when i commented.
this place has good people. but needs a lot more people.
Is that what this thread is about? Congrats on the baby by the way! When is your wife (?) due?
Gentlemen. Several of your members have read storied I have written on NOles247 as well as here and posted in another thread, and encouraged me to continue. I submitted a story beginning here, asking for feedback and trying to ascertain a level of interest - or not. The post got a few readers, but did not engender a single comment. I surmised there was no interest in seeing this develop, and deleted the message. I re-submit it here for your review and comments. There are already three additional chapters on file.
How it all came about.
Those of you who have two or more children, have already, or will run into a scenario where the kids are in the backseat, hollering and hacking on each other to the point of distraction, and elevating your blood pressure to danger levels. My G-Kids, 4.5 years and 7.5 years at the time, were in my car, screaming 'n hitting 'n throwing 'n crying 'n in general turning my thoughts toward infanticide. This wasn’t the first time, and I had tried all the nice things; ice-cream, money, soders, singing, screaming even louder than they were, even making one sit in front in violation of federal kiddy transport laws, all to no avail. At my wits end, fool that I am, I came up the not quite so brilliant idea of a “Never–Ending Story, borrowing the concept from that 1984 movie of the same title. My original intention was to spin a tale of enough length to shut their pie-holes long enough to keep them silent ‘til we reached our destination. It worked. I started with subject matter relative to their young age group, using characters they would be familiar with, and while basing the progression on accepted tales and fables, eventually began to depart some for the norm, on the order of “Fractured Fairy Tales”, from the old Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Bullwinkle the Goofy Moose cartoons. Only problem, was the NEXT time they got in the car, it was “Tell the Story Papa”, Tell the Story Papa, Tell the Story Papa, Tell the Story Papa! So now, 7 years down the road, we have come to the time of the return of the company to the Good Queen’s Realm. Along the way we have gone from Jumbo, nee Dumbo the Orphink Olyphant with his sidekick Jimminy the Cricket; to our current cadre of humans and Louis the Telpathic Pooch. I’ll launch next week, by way of a multi-part synopsis at the inception, listing the important highlights until we catch up. After all we have 7 years of yarn to traverse.
Editor’s Note: I will be looking for feedback from you, fellow readers; as to length, frequency content style, etc. Don’t hold back as in part this is YOUR story as well, so don’t hesitate to get tore in. Use the PM line of communication if you want to query, or would like for me to flesh out a particular part. Of course feel free to use any of this you wish to entertain your own with my blessing. Also, if at any time this becomes boring or you get tired of it, let me know and we'll retire the effort, in these pages at least.
So your gonna tell us a story? If so, do it
I'm more of a skimmer lately. I just don't really have the attention span to read a story on here. No offense just saying type it all out if you want and I'm sure somebody will read it.
I understand. Perhaps this can just be attributed to an over reach. One can read them on Noles 247 if one is so inclined. No need to clutter things up here. Thanx. Pass.
Would you kindly post the link in this thread to that thread
I'm so confused
It's on our OTR BOARD. I'm not versant in link posting, sorry. Perhaps someone who is technically less challenged than I, could lend a fellow fan a hand. As I said earlier though, this was invented for 4 and 7 year old pre- teens.

I'll check over there, and link it for any interested parties
I found it, I see you have more than one, I suppose that they can go find them too, lazy b-turds
I will check it out I love me Nash stories. Sorry Nash I have been busy at work not enough time during the daylight hours to read it. Great start so far however
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.
I don't know what that means.
I can, however, think of several naughty permutations.
T = tata
L = Lickers
D = dangling dingle
R = rubbing (real fast)
tl;dr stands for too long didn't read. I know, I've been hit with that myself a few times. Nash you are a renaissance man in a fast food world. Unfortunately too many of the younger generation that frequents these boards don't have the attention span to read lengthy posts. Not your fault my man, that's just the way it is. I think your stories are epic, but if you want these kids to read them, you're going to have to shorten them.
I read them all
Yes but you are an exceptional individual.
Thanks for the clarification. Your point is well taken about the length. I came up when there were 3 TV stations and PBS, of which only 1 channel had good vid., and the rest were snowy. I didn't get dialed into computers until my late 30's, and the electronic age has hit me with a wrecking ball. I'm getting better but nowhere near as up to speed as most here. I'll try to shorten them a bit, but won't sacrifice too much just to make them more palatable for a few. I come from many generations of story-tellers, and indeed am my extended family's historian, learning, and relating orally (me and my grand-daughter are compiling an electronic record to preserve the whole) to current and future generations the 900 odd years of our history dating back to 12th century. While I hope some of you may find these efforts amusing, I understand they are not for everyone, and expect some to bypass them. That's OK. I do get some good feedback - enough to keep going. Thanks for at least taking a look.
