NYE is overrated? Can't remember the last time i went out on NYE......even before we had little man
Sexing it up at Midnight is always fun.
I do. I never go out NYE.
I am usually at an Iowa bowl game during NYE so it's really no big deal to me. This year........
I just watched three and a half hours of the Fez. A damn Steely Dan Tribute band. It was like 3 hours too many. But I had to be there for the E.
What I like about nye is that it is daylight wise, about the opposite of 4th of July. On the 4th you have to stay up till midnight to see fireworks. We did some drinks and shot off some nice ones at 7 tonight. Scared the horses though, so I had to quit.
Happy New year.
Before there was space or time there was rock and roll.
We tried to go downtown for a bit in IC. We called for a cab at 10. They told us it would be 35-40 minutes. Then they didn't show up until 11:41. I kindly told them to piss off.
I used to have to play/work all the time on NYE, but other than an odd event here or there, I try to not leave the house on amateur night - idiots everywhere and when I lived in places like LA and Chicago, everything was crowded and expensive. I don't think I have been out on NYE in almost ten years since I saw Aretha Franklin at the Chicago Theater.
Life is hard. It's really hard if you're stupid.
I usually really like it. Normally my husband isn't home and the kids and I stay up. My husband stayed home with the kids this year and I went out. I definitely would have had more fun with them and they were mad because my husband made them go to bed early.
Used to go to Ft Madison from Burlington to get together with my step-sister/cousin and my sorta kinda step-brother or something like that. One year we left their house atn 1:00am to drive home. Hey 61 was a 2 lane road then and we got stuck behind some drunk doing about 40 and he was literally all over the road, from ditch to ditch. The hwy was slick from an earlier snow so we were stuck behind him all the way back to Burlington. As we entered towbn he went faster after he turned right on West Ave. After we had driven down West for a bout a mile, we came upon the same dude in his car, stopped in the middle of an intersection draped over his steering wheel and passed out cold. With the wife and two kids in the car with me I decided early on that it would not be a good idea to force him into the ditch and then get out and deliver the kind of ass kicking he so richly deserved and from that year on, we didin't travel out on NYE. Don't miss it at all.
Happen to go see a band on NYE, this year.
That's really a fun time, being with your special lady and then other folks, some you know and some
you just met, at the momentous hour, when we begin a new year.
Wow though, there are a lot of impaired folks out on that nite......so, always be safe.

I hate going to the bars on NYE - this year we hosted a house party by request. We made a bunch of fixings for burrito bowls and had about 16-20 people over. Worked out great and everyone had a blast. Our house works out nice as there's plenty of places for people to crash but still room for people to stay up and party all night without disturbing the people sleeping. NYE is just an excuse to get friends over and party.
