growing up outside CB (yes the cesspool) aka Counciltucky we had very nice athletic fields for the youth paid for by casino money. Also all that ugly art they keep putting up including that terrible looking bridge by the Bass pro came from casino money so there is the good and bad.

I love going to a casino. In Indiana we have a weird law where it has to be on water to be a legal casino. So thankfully in Evansville we have a river but other places have built an entire lake just so they can build a casino. Such a stupid law.

We were talking about that on the last page. Iowa used to have the same law and would also just build a body of water and put a boat on it.

Not a casino guy at all. But I do love betting on sporting events.
Anyways the Casino about to go up in CR has everyone debating on if there should be one there. So I asked one person in CR why the no love for a Casino? Which he responded "Have you ever been to a Casino in a town that isn't trash?" I thought about it and I couldn't come up with one but I responded "CR is already pretty trashy"... Which he laughed.
Don't care, as long as I can place my sports bets with a friend or online, I'll be fine. I'll play cards at a casino once every three years, so obiviously I'm not a casino guy. Strip clubs on the other hand are my crutch

Either way, I don't think it will matter. The gaming board will probably rule CR is too close to the other establishments. Same story for the one they want to build in Ankeny when Prairie Meadows is 15 minutes away.
I'm not sure about the one they want to build in Sioux City. If they build it, is the boat going away? If it's not, i don't see them approving that one either.

Welcome to America. You can't do anything nowadays without fighting 50% of the population.
If certain laws or things happen here, I'd move away or at least look to moving away (ie: banning Internet porn). I doubt any current CR residents will move away if the Casino happens. Again I could careless

This is what irritates me. We are spending all this money on yet another special vote (we have had a couple LoST extension votes, one in a year where it shouldve been thrown on the ballot in november instead of wasting more money), and i haven't read anything that even if the people should approve it, that they would approve the license

Some people want to revolt against the government, but the banning of internet porn could really start one....in ten minutes.

Back to Casinos. I have been in a few, in Iowa. Michigan. Nevada. California. Washington. Montana (not real casinos), My favorite is Canada. Vegas is a close second.
I like the craps tables. I usually make few bucks if I don't get carried away in the moment. No way in hell i'd waste money on the slots. Blackjack is fun now and then.
Did I leave anybody out? Oh yeah, Oregon.
