Casinos

  • Currently in CR there is debate underway on whether to approve a casino in town or not. This got me to wondering. How many of you VOTHOT'ers visit a casino? If you go, how often? and what are your favorite games?
Being a bit of a tightwad I don't visit the casino very often, but when I do I usually enjoy my time there. I prefer the black jack table, but must admit to a bit of a weakness for the one armed bandits (which ususally costs me money more often than not). How about you folks? What say you?

  • When I lived out west, I was an avid craps player in Vegas. I have not enjoyed trips to other casinos near as much, even though I used to go quite a bit when I lived in St. Louis and had (at the time) three of them to choose from. I cannot remember the last time I gambled in a casino.

  • I go a few times a year I only do about $20.00 each time. I just play slots.

  • Roulette. About once every 5 years.

The effect of casino's is rather evident in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area. CB built the Mid America Center and paid cash, Omaha built the Quest/Century Link center and borrowed the money.

Council Bluffs is still a dump though.

  • Haven't been in years, but I almost always stick to the black jack table. I much prefer sports betting, but I haven't done that in years either.

  • I stick to the poker tables or video poker machines. If I feel like sitting down at card table and not win or lose any money for hours, then I head to the pai'gow table

I don't think so. Actually not so long ago the Nebby legislature was essentially trying to blackmail Iowa. They wanted us to send them some of our casino money or they would consider changing their laws and building a casino or two.

Iowa promptly told them to shove it.

  • I used to go down to Riverside quite a bit when I lived in IC and was just working FT. I'd play in the Wed or Sat hold 'em tournaments occasionally. Otherwise I'd usually sit down at the $5 blackjack table with 40 or 60 bucks. I've done very well the last couple times.

Seriously? What a joke. Why would they even think that Iowa would send them any of our casino money? That's so profoundly stupid that it's almost hilarious.

nope. You can build on land now. Iowa decided money was nicer than having someone's ridiculous idea of what constitutes "morals".

No. The dog track in CB is inland. Also JWolf our state is stupid about gambling. We waste a ton of money crossing the border

So do all the ones in Council belong to Iowa then, even the ones on the other side? There are like 4 or something right by each other.

I'd hate to see how much Nebraskans spend at the casino in Iowa. My dad alone spends a years tuition every year at Harrahs

Aside from the obvious Nowledge, I would say in this case it stood for "Not" as in Not going to get any casino money from Iowa.
