    Would you recommend it?

I've read up to about page 100 and would definitely say I like it. Once you get past the first 30 pages or so which are all background and details (albeit presented in an interesting way) and the story really starts to take a direction it gets good.

  • I just started one of DeMille's latest, "The Lion." I love his storytelling style and this is the fourth book with John Corey as the lead character and I like him.

I read in spurts. I read fast and, if I am into a book, I burn through it. Then I run into a book I don't particularly care for, but I have to finish it, so I slow way down.

If you want some humor, pick up anything by Mil Millington ("Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About," "A Certain Chemistry"). He is one of the few authors that can make me laugh out loud.

  • Starting a GRE test prep book today. Not sure that I'd recommend it to anybody, just thought I'd update everybody.

  • Finally had a little time (got out of school early today). Sat down and read the last 100 or so pages of the first book Game of Thrones.

    Very good

Ready to move on the to the second one.

Since here I haven't had a whole lot of time to read, I read a few chapters in to the second book, will probably try to read one or two more tonight, and hopefully will get some time to get more into it this week.

How are you coming along UI

I'm almost 200 pages through the first book. I should have it finished before spring break in 2 weeks. I've been swamped with tests for the last 2 weeks so I've been unable to read it. It's killing me knowing how much everyone loves book 3.

  • I'm a good 2/3rds of the way through Brave New World and I really like it. The characters ate really intriguing to me and I really like Huxley's portrayal of the savage reservation.

I will tell you not to make the same mistake I did, while I was reading the first book, I did some searching to see what some of the characters from the show looked like, and I saw some pictures that kind of gave away some of the things that were going to happen still in the first book. I was pissed at myself, although the book was still awesome even knowing something was going to happen. I didn't know how it was going to or what was going to happen leading up to that event.

Anyways, I bought both the 1st and 2nd season on Blu Ray, I am four episodes into the first, will start the second one when I finish the second book.

Only bought the second one because I got an email from Amazon saying that it was $30 on Blu Ray, not sure if it is still that cheap

Dang, well I know what to ask for for my birthday this summer. I would love to watch the shows but I don't want to spoil the book, like you said. It builds up well so far.

I am not positive but am pretty certain that the seasons are broken up by the books, anyways that what my friend that has read all five has told me

Hmm, I went back in this thread to see what you said it is about, and went to the know all site wikipedia to get a brief synopsis, not sure how I would feel about reading that.

I personally love anything having to do with utopian/dystopian societies. I can definitely see how people wouldn't like this book though. Huxley's writing style is unlike anything I've ever seen but I think its really good.

It might be something I would give a shot, but as of right now I have so many books currently that I have that I need to read, so it would just fall down on a far list

  • Believe it or not, I often have as many as five books going at once. I place them strategicly about the house (one in the shitter, one on the kitchen table, one by the couch and one in my bedroom right now) so I have something to read where ever I go. I also carry some magazines and a book in my car, unless I stop at a restaurant and want to read while I am eating. Books have provided me an endless supply of enjoyment over the past 56 years. I really started reading with a purpose when I was about 7-8 years old and have never stopped. I want to be cooked along with my hard bound copy of Shelby Foote's "Civil War: A Narrative". I read a wide variety of things but always come home to true crime stories and history in almost any era. I am getting ready to start reading the Dragon Tatoo story after I am finished reading my bedroom book, "Dakota Dawn".

  • Oh I started "Team of Rivals" the other day. Pretty good so far.

Be careful with it. You may end up ordering the pocketsize, unless you prefer that. It's too small for my taste.

No way. Hardcover all the way for me. Thanks for the tip though.

BNW was one of the best books I ever read in high school, think I might stop by the local bookstore and pick up a copy of it.

I read that book a long time ago. It was well written, interesting and a little disturbing. I sometimes think that some of his visions are coming true.
