IMO, the tacky thing is all the coverage it is getting. This guy was a criminal, yet they keep mentioning him and how tragic his death was. I think the tragic thing was the death of his GF, but it seems like a lot of the people yesterday ignored that part when talking about him

That's your opinion, like he is entitled to his, people get too sensitive if someone else gives their opinion. It is America, and people are allowed to give opinions. And he was actually paraphrasing another writer.

Both he and Whitlock were using the bully pulpit of the media to politicize a tragedy. It would have been more appropriate to just offer condolances to everyone who had been affected by the senselessness of the act. But they didn't, and rather than taking the high road they chose to attempt to advance a political agenda in bad taste. Do they have the freedom to do that? Absolutely. Was it in good taste? IMO it was not. I have the freedom to fart in an elevator full of people...but that doesn't mean that I should.

Cowherd had a good point on this today...everybody says that Costas should stick to what they do, and yet feel that they, themselves can have an opinion on everything, Everybody uses whatever public platform they have available to them to voice their opinion, whether it is twitter, facebook, messageboards, etc. just so happens Bob Costas has a public platform of television

the only opinion that should matter on this subject on whether or not Costas should have gone on his rant is his employer. if they feel it was harmful to their company, especially with sponsors then action will be taken.

with that said, even if we had strict gun control laws...if someone wants to get a hold of a gun, especially to commit a crime they are going to do it....if they cannot, and he really wanted her dead he would've stabbed her or something and would've offed himself another way.

I've enjoyed Bob Costas for years. I am a fan of his sportscasts and was a fan of his late night talk show when it aired. I think that an op-ed piece on the nightly news would have been a better venue for him to make his remarks, not a half time sports cast. People watch football for the entertainment value. People watch the news to become informed. And I also agree with CB in that we should not be weeping for the loss of the players life, but rather the loss of the girl's life. It's a sad situation all the way around, and (IMO) it was too soon and too fresh to be taking this tragedy and turning it into a political statement.
I don't think Costas should be fired, or even reprimanded. I just think that his employer should remind him that he is a sports caster, not a political comentator, and that if that is what he wants to do, he should apply for the job at NBC Nightly News.

I would insist on Bob being there. I love him as a commentator and story teller. He could tell me stories about Olympians while instructing me how to bang his wife.

Without going political ill say, if he didn't have a gun she would've been stabbed to death. People still get murder in country's that don't have these laws

I don't want to hear Bobby talk about his political stance on gun rights on SNF. I don't care if he's pro gun or anti gun. I watch him to talk about football. If I wanted to watch him talk about gun rights he can go on CNN, MSN, or Fox.

I quit listening after he was talking about loud music. Dude is old and out of touch, music was made to be listen to at high volumes.

By the way------I'm a LIFELONG chiefs fan. Been to probably a dozen games at Arrowhead.
I'm just happy they won their 2nd game of the year. Most of these players have been working
very hard, most of the season. Good to see them get in the
W column, once again.
