What do you think the crowd will be like at Kinnick on Saturday?

  • The ideal situation is obviously that the Hawkeyes will finally put it all together on Saturday and win comfortably at home.

However, if Iowa struggles early in the game and/or ends up losing, what do you think the crowd will be like at Kinnick on Saturday?

  • impatient with the ability to become hostile....although, realistically, there is more reality of 5000 no-shows and apathy as most people have already come to the reality of this season.

I hope there aren't that many no shows. It is important that recruits see that the fans are still behind the team, even when things aren't going well. In recent interviews, the recruits have discussed how great it is that the fans are still amped and down with their team, even when losing. The fans need to come out and support this team, and I believe the "true fans" will.

It sucks I feel this way but I'm hoping fans start to not show up. Once the bottom line is effected which is Kirks marketability to make money than we'll start seeing some whole sale changes. Ferentz ball isn't cutting it. I expected this team to be mediocre but not terrible and ghosts of pasts keep showing up. 85 scholarship game, offensive philosophy, defensive philosophy & loyalty to a fault.

Obiviously I want to make a bowl game and it starts with Purdue but if we lose I hope it's PSU all over again. I hope the half the crowd leaves and the rest that stays are the boo birds to let the coaches know that these results are not acceptable with the advantages he has. (larger athletic budget, longer tenure for stability, & weak schedule)

So blow out victory or bust big like belly flop face hitting the pavement big.

I think we'll fill the stadium again and I think there will still be excitement. If we can keep ~50% of the stadium filled during as bad of a game as Penn State, we can fill it for what may be one of our last chances to win this year. I think we as fans have been waiting all year to root about something and if the offense can do anything, I think we can become a factor in the game. Iowa obviously isn't the largest B1G stadium, but Kinnick is consistently ranked anywhere from 2nd-5th in the league as one of the toughest places to play.

    Take pride and GO hawkeyes!!!!

  • i think kinnick will be more or less full unless it is too, too rainy. ticket holders will intend to come but likely will have a reduced interest in overcoming inconvenience to do it. probably warm enuf, but water and lightening ...ugh. i suppose, too, that the crowd will be wary--hoping for the best, but waiting for things to go south. the hawks will need a fast start to get the crowd into it. if the hawks do start to stink it up, i expect the crowd will turn nasty and saturday night we'll have a brisk exchange here on the propriety of booing one's own team.

  • I think Kinnick will be full like der said. I think the most open seats will be in the student section towards the top. I'm sure some won't come, but Iowa fans are generally good to the team no matter how bad they are. Go hawks!

you're not alone. the whole down vote thing is kind of silly--really just a tool for trolls.

  • I know of three guys that will be drunk and screaming like no tomorrow (me and my 2 friends). One of my buddies is having his first trip to Kinnick. I can't wait for his cherry to pop!!

    ISUhawk

  • Fans will show up but they'll be on pins and needles almost looking for an excuse to check out of the action. I've seen it before.

Iowa needs to come out and score early to build momentum and keep the crowd engaged. An early turnover or a Purdue score will have the crowd thinking "here we go again" sooner rather than later.

    ToddBrommelkamp

  • I think the only spot we might not see people show up is the student section

silver, for some reason I've noticed a particular poster on here who resembles 80s but seems a bit more reserved.

If Ferentz can't get this team to beat a terrible Purdue team, then the boo birds will deservingly become vocal.

  • 11 am kickoff. Bad team. Bad opponent. Crazy nice weather.

Im expecting the student section to take the biggest hit. 1/2 full.
If Kinnick holds 70k I'll guess that 63k are there for kickoff. Other than the student section it will appear full.
The best part about these games is you can scalp a ticket for $20. Maybe $20 for a pair this Saturday.
Tailgating scene will be lame. Been to games like this and its like the walking dead.
Me, I'll pass. I got bird fever. DVR and fast forward thru like its a MNF game that I dont care about. Apathy.

    KFSuperStar

  • The weather is supposed to be great so that will help. i know the students still look forward to tailgating and it's 11 a.m. so they will show up for awhile.

I'll be making the 7 hour journey regardless!

  • A lot of negativity from some of you, it's well-deserved and frankly I'm not exactly positive about this season either, but this isn't the time to abandon the team. The movie "Dark Knight" had an incredibly good quote, "the night get's darkest just before the dawn." I'm not saying next year or even the next year after that is necessarily going to be the dawn and we make another BCS bowl game, but come on people, being a Hawkeye is not about being a bandwagon fan. I'm 22 years old and as bad as this team is, I won't be abandoning this team and neither should you otherwise you have no right (and maybe you don't do this) to talk lowly of any other fans for being bandwagoners or for anything. Show some pride in your school and your team, and for that matter yourselves.

I don't care if you downvote this, upvote it, think I'm an idiot, or whatever, but at least I know what I am. I know I'm an Iowa Hawkeye and that's never going to change.

    GO iowahawkeyes!!!!!

I agree with Der. You can't give up on this team just because of a down year. I know me and a bunch of my buddies will be there cheering.

    kingiowa

  • Yeah Iowa might be down this year but who gives an ish? We can't do anything about it other than support the players and pack Kinnick, get loud and hope for a win. If it doesn't come, well whatever...have a few extra beers!!

  • I just upvoted you der. And I have a daughter who would like to meet you.

I went to a november game against Purdue back in 1977 in the midst of Iowa's epic losing streak to the Boilers. It was cold, Iowa lost 21-0, and there were still 50,000+ fans in a stadium that (then) held 58,000. Iowa fans are loyal, to a fault.
