I assume this is a good thing. I have no idea who he is though. Just that he plays basketball from glancing at the other thread.

  • just a little info, he has to pay his own way for the next season and obviously has to sit out the 2012-2013 season.

'no idea who he is'? Jarrod was Mr Basketball in Iowa, 2 years ago. Why does it seem like everyone knew who Bohanon was when he went to Cheeseheadland, but Jarrod, not so much? And Jarrod is the better basketball player.

Lickleiter's staff royally screwed the recruiting of Uthoff; despite Jarrod playing at CR Jeff, just 25 miles from CHA....... that staff allowed Illinois and Wisconsin to offer Jarrod first.

Welcome to the HAWKEYE nation Mr Uthoff !!

Because Bohanon's dad played for Iowa. That tends to draw attention.

    Uhhhhhhhhh.....nice try, but No.

Harley.....the more likely answer is that there's been so much up and down, unfulfilled and squandered trust, by Iowa basketball, that some fans are skittish about taking anything at face value. Jarrod Uthoff was recruited by Illinois, Wisconsin, Marquette, Florida, Creighton, I.S. who and several other top-flight programs.

He's a much bigger Get than Jaybo ever was.......
Harley....have a good Summer, my man.

  • Kev,

This was your question: "Why does it seem like everyone knew who Bohanon was when he went to Cheeseheadland, but Jarrod, not so much?"

I simply offered one possible reason as to why so many knew who Bohanon was. If you were so positive with your own answer, why ask the question? shrug

I'd be curious to hear you back this up.

  • Todd: Go back and review what happened.

Illinois and Wisconsin both offered Jarrod before Iowa did. So did other schools. Even though,
JU was playing in Iowa City a couple of times each year.

What were they waiting for? They couldn't see what everyone else was seeing?

Apparently, they could not and that is how we got here, today.

Pretty easy not knowing who you're talking about when I don't follow basketball...biggrin

  • “He’s just a great guy,” the coach said. “He’ll be an excellent representative to the program and the university.”

    JU-- High school coach.

Nice article by Hlas at the gazette where he shows exemplary citizenship.

Come on, Fellas. Gordy didn't have that much to do with Jaybo's popularity amongst the Iowa media.
It was more that he 'spurned Iowa's offer' and went to cheesier, more bratty pastures.

C'mon Sky. Gordy took the Hawkeyes to the Rose Bowl after a disasterous 19 seasons. This is why it was made a big deal when his kid spurned the UI offer.

And by the time Uthoff was a senior, Iowa bb was so insignificant, no one was paying attention.

FG80.........Go ahead and make-up whatever you want to believe.

    You're wrong, just sayin.

Illinois and Wisconsin were on Jarrod Uthoff, while the Lickleiter staff twiddled its collective thumbs.
They couldn't figure out, on their own that Jarrod was going to be a really good player.
That's the way it went down..........I'm just saying........

Skyhawk, your question was "Why does it seem like everyone knew who Bohanon was when he went to Cheeseheadland, but Jarrod, not so much?"

The reason everyone knew Bohanon was because of his dad. Period.

The fact that Lick twindled his thumb has nothing to do with your question. Just sayin'.

And Gordon Bohannon was the freaking QB of the 1981 Rose Bowl team.
