  • They are going to screw it up. If your thinking about dollars (which I understand) and not about the integrity of crowning a true champion & the historic value of the Rose, Orange, etc... your not going to find a system that works.

4vs1 & 2vs3 playoff works. Allowing two teams from the same confrence also works.

I say have the playoff on a site with incentives. Such as if 1 wants to host the game than 2 gets to pick their opponent but has to play away or vice versa.

If you are selected as a 1-4 pick your confrence bid to other bowls goes to another team within confrence unless there is a higher ranked non BCS team (only up to two total). Your welcome Boise, ND & Delany. With 4 picks the chances of a B1G team getting passed by a 2 higher ranked non BCS are slim.

No 2 thing I would do is no more non BCS jan 1 games. All games on this day would be Fesita, Rose, Orange, & Sugar with staggered times.

The championship game would be played the following Saturday with the losers of the semi finals playing before the game at the Cotton bowl since it should be a BCS bowl anyways. Championship site would be determine a year in advance with it going to the highest bid.

Also all non BCS games can only have teams with postive winning records.

That's just my opinion and there are many out there but I highly doubt anything like this will come about when profits are viewed first.

  • Anything that doesn't include all 11 conference champions IMO are all the same. I know that might be a little righteous, but given the scheduling restrictions that most teams face, there is no way to legitimately tell a team it has a fair shot without giving every team an equal chance, which is really only possible by including every teams conference champion. I don't care if it's a computer or a pollster deciding, it's wrong. It needs settled on the field. As much as I like the bowl games and what not, I would sacrifice all of it, the Rose Bowl included, to get a real playoff system in play, whether it be 16, 20, 32, or whatever. The conference champions need included, and I for one wish they would utilize the identical 20 team format that the FCS uses. If the NCAA thinks the system is good enough for one division, why not the other? Since the answer is financially driven, the question isn't about will people still spend there money, but rather where they will spend there money, and the NCAA shouldn't be able to wield that kind of power. Why does a postseason game have to be played in Pasadena rather than Indianapolis? Will more Iowa fans go watch the Hawks in Pasadena then they would in Indianapolis if it meant a shot at the NC? I don't have all the details of the perfect system, but I think it's an injustice to the system for any collegiate athletic team to finish a season with an undefeated record and not have a National Championship trophy in there case, and in just the last 10 years, it's happened 6 times.

  • Yeah but a lot of people are fan of the bowl system, they just aren't a fan of 1vs2 only. If we go to a plus 1 type thing there is little chance that we will be griping about a 5th seed.

Plus I don't wanna watch the winner of the sun belt vs LSU in a playoff game nor does half the country. Let's be realistic, of the 11 conferences how many of them are actual contenders? Pac12, B1G, B12, ACC, SEC and maybe the Big East every ten years.

So the MAC, MWC, Sun belt, ConUSA, & WAC teams gotta schedule some tough non confrence games & win out. If they do that they'll have my vote but 1 team rarely does that as is.

If you build a playoff system that awards the opportunity for every team, even a team like... we'll say Arkansas State since you mention the Sun Belt, whose to say that in time, they cant develop into a team like Boise St. or TCU? Wouldn't that be good for the competitiveness of the sport? You don't think people wouldn't rally behind an underdog in a playoff? Happens all the time. I agree that Arkansas State might not generate the same amount of money that a major conference team would, but it's not like the NCAA is going to lose money by including these teams. It would be nice to see the NCAA make a decision with the sport and student athletes best interests at the top of there concerns list, rather than greed.
