Predictions: Iowa vs Michigan

  • In the end I just don't think the hawk's defense can hold up. Anyone care to donate some koolaid?

    Michigan- 38
    Iowa- 28

  • sure 24-21 Iowa, Hawks control the tempo and pull it out at the last second.

I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.

  • I can't see us not losing the next 2 games by under 20. Our Offense hasn't done anything all year, and our defense is tired, beaten up and not very confident.

For us to be even close we have to dominate in turnovers, and score on defense or special teams, which sadly we've done and still lost to teams like Purdue and Indiana. An ugly season just gets worse and worse

I think Iowa hangs tough in this one, but Michigan ultimately prevails 21-16.

    Solid prediction Todd.

I'll say 24-13 Michigan....I hate picking against the hawks grumble. Prove me wrong hawks.

  • The line in today's NY Post says OFF and yesterday USA Today had Michigan by 1 and the over/under was OFF. Are they still waiting for the status of Denard?

    Let's Go Hawks!

That must be why. It's possible that no one will really know whether or not he's playing until kickoff, so it'll be interesting to see if Vegas sets a line at some point.

sadly, i think this one could turn into a memorable butt kicking if iowa comes in soft.

  • You know I try to come in here positive, and I like to predict Iowa, only problem is even when I predict them to win, which I will, I don't actually believe it.

    That being said.

    Iowa 30

    Michigan 25

  • Last I seen was Iowa +20.

I like it alot. Too bad i dont bet on any State of Iowa teams.

Im picking the Hawks the next 2 weeks.

    20-16 Iowa.

    KFSuperStar

  • 38-3 Michigan

After last week, Iowa's motto was

    "We make you look good"

I don't bet, but I'd feel good about taking Iowa at +20.

  • Don't get me wrong, I think Iowa is still a long shot, but I would love to see Denard start. Iowa has had his number over the last years. This only helps our chances.

  • it saddens me to see iowa at plus 20. it saddens me further still when it occurs to me that it isn't enough.

I could see it going either way when it comes to Iowa's hopes for a win with Denard at quarterback, as I explained in that article yesterday. If Michigan is aggressive in terms of utilizing him in the running game, then Iowa's struggles at safety could really be magnified, and he's liable to pop a bag play at any time. But I'd be mildly surprised if Michigan didn't tone it back at least a little with him coming off an injury. In the passing game, Denard starting would benefit Iowa, as Gardner is a much better passer.

We'll see what happens, but I'd be pretty surprised to see Michigan cover that spread.

  • Michigan will cover that spread like a quilt, with a dog laying on top of it. The next two weeks will be ugly ones for Hawkeye fans, especially with all the red of Nebraska fans replacing the black at Kinnick Stadium on Black Friday. This too shall pass.

"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

You can sit at home instead of supporting the team and supporting Hawkeye football, but my brother and I will be at the game supporting the black and gold from beginning to finish, along with thousands of other Hawkeye fans. People like you may give up in support of the team, but you can be damn sure there are many more who will stand up and take your place. Black and gold will dominate Kinnick just like we always do. I'll leave it at this for now.

  • This is a classic heart versus brain scenario. I'd love to see the Hawks play like they want to make a point the next two weeks, and pull off an upset or two, but, my brain starts laughing at me (in a disrespectful way I might add).

I just don't see it. My guess is Michigan will hit on several big plays, with Iowa coming back a little in the end.

    Michigan 32 Iowa 16.

  • I hate to even see my own score prediction in print. I would never say Iowa could not win this game. But, I am afraid with the difference in flat out athletic ability, Iowa is justifiably a 2+ touchdown underdog. And, they are really fragile at this point. Maybe with a couple of big breaks, especially early on...

I drove to Iowa City from my home in eastern Wisconsin for the Howard game, traveled to the Ann Arbor area today, and will be at the game tomorrow. I never really considered staying home.

Interesting: I am in the Holiday Inn Express in Chelsea MI about 15 miles from Ann Arbor and the Big Ten Network crew (12-15 I think) are all staying here. The gal at the desk said they are good guys and that they never stay in the game site city. They spend a lot of time talking shop and prefer not to have others hear their comments.

So, Michigan 34, Iowa 10. Geez, that hurts me.

If you're sure Golden, I'll bet ya that Old Milwaukee Light.

...still don't know how Iowa fans? can allow red to be in Kinnick. What a sell out? =)

college football really isn't a battle between cosmic good and cosmic evil. i swear it is really a game--and i swear that fans really aren't participants. interestingly the quotation you begin with is most likely drawn from an early 20th century anti-alcohol sermon. the guy who said that would have onlookers stop tailgate parties--instead of doing nothing. have a great time. yell your pants off. enjoy your beer. just don't moralize about proper fan behavior. it isn't armageddon.
