  • Campolattano just looked tired out there, Burak looked rested and ready to go with 1 minute left to go. Great win by Burak, fought off the shots when he needed to and pushed when he needed to. That and with Campolattano just gassed at the end led to the victory. Would have liked to see Burak connect on a few more shots, but still a great win.

And with that I'm going to bed. I don't need to watch Telford stand around some more.

What was the illegal hold that the Iowa bench was complaining about at the start of the first period there? I couldn't see anything that Campolattano was doing.

    i saw nothing

as for Telford - dude needs to finish his shots - and not let go at the first twitch. he had at least 2 shots in deep (seemed to clasp hands) and let go without even trying. if he is afraid to finish shots = 6th B10 and 2 and done at ncaa's. light a fire terry!!

15 National Championships and one Urban Meyer heart attack, Roll Tide. 23 NC's in wrestling and one badass Herky, Go Hawks.

  • Great to see the dual on B1G network. Lots of work to do before the conference and NCAAs - but the group seems to be pretty no-nonsense/blue-collar - disappointing HWT match...that's for sure - expecting way more out of Telford - that was the biggest disappointment outside of not seeing the Ramos match with Stieber.

    HookemHawks85

  • Gotta say I am very disappointed in two things: Telford continuing to sleepwalk and Steiber ducking Ramos (which is exactly what it was).

I still expect more out of Ethan, a LOT more, but oh well. Great wins for Evans and Burak.

Remember also on Sunday is the team USA wrestle off for 84 (I think) kilos. It was supposed to be in the wrestling room but I think they might have moved it to the arena. Not sure on that though.

Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

Don't know who the color commentator guy is, but he's not very good.

Jim Gibbons and Tim Johnson - sometimes they let Gable in (not last night).

i think you are not happy with ISU guy?

I did as well but to me rankings mean less in wrestling than any other sport. Sure the are close but nice thing about wrestling is all you have to do is qualify you kids and you can win no matter what you are ranked, it is all prep for who is the best team/individuals for 3 days in March. But I was impressed mostly with the team but we still have much work to do.

Yeah. He just seemed like he was 2 steps behind all night. But I generally don't like the color commentators for any sport, so that might ahve something to do with it.

And I actually don't like Gable doing commentary. It's nice to listen to him, but I don't think he has the right mindset for commentary.

Gable can't stay unbiased towards Iowa either.

    True.

Anybody going/at the meet today? I'm watching the Redskins/Seahawks game, so I'm not going. I might listen to it though. If I do I'll try and post some results.

Semi-interesting note, I was in the car after the meet on Friday and caught the very end of Ironside just absolutely blasting on the wrestlers. Not sure WHY he was so mad, just that he was. It also surprised (well maybe not) me that Brands was so upset afterwards with the media. The only part I really remember with that was that he said some guys were having weight problems coming off of winter break.

  • Brands on the pregame. Pretty much the normal coachspeak. Can't overlook Purdue, they pointed towards this dual etc.

Also according to KJ Pilcher on the Twitter, Matt Gurule is wrestling at 125, and Brody Grothus is wrestling at 149 instead of Mike Kelly.

  • Oh and I just found out that the match is live on Mediacom at 5pm. I was all set up with my radio and everything haha. Rob Brooks, Gable, and Mike Duroe will be commentating.

  • I feel bad I didn't go to the meet. There'll be a couple good matches, and it looks like I'd have my choice of seats.

  • Wow Duroe looks like death on camera. Holy cow.

Also, is anyone needing updates? If so could you please say something, otherwise I'll probably just wait until the end of each match to post some thoughts.

  • Ugh radio is 15 seconds ahead of the TV. I guess I'll turn the radio off. Aren't the details of my life interesting??? I think so.

Gurule fought off the leg attack there by Eppert. Eppert is ranked 17th by the way. Other then a scramble nothing else really happened. 0-0 going to the 2nd period.
