  • So, can the talking dweebs of the NFL stop lauding Luck now?

He is just getting RIPPED by the NE Pats defense today.

Especially a rookie who has been lauded, exulted and called the 'Second Coming' by the
    Media spinheads.
Of course, apparently, CB, you're either 'oblivious' to the constant hype, or
    you Lap it up?

    Which is it?

  • In his defense he was the first pick in the draft, which means he went to a team that basically sucked. He's done pretty well for himself in my opinion. Is he a guaranteed hall of famer, no, but jumping on the kid for one bad game isn't really fair either.

  • I honestly think both Luck and RGIII have gotten a little too much praise for their play this year. The future definitely looks bright for both of them, but I think they've both got a ways to go before they're considered elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Especially since they're rookies, I don't think it's overly alarming if they have a bad game here or there at this point, and even more so since neither team is very talented.

  • Peyton Manning didn't have a great rookie year. But Luck is having a better year than he had FWIW. They are going to need to build around luck. Harrison won't be there forever.

Your melodramatics here do not lend itself to your argument. For a rookie to take a 2-14 team and have them competing to make the playoffs is a pretty laudable reason. Not to mention the 292 yds/pg average. Sure his TD-INT ratio is now 1:1, but you also have to add in his 5 rushing TD's. He's played like a rook at times, and played outstanding in others.

Besides, most of the year, its been RG3 this and RG3 that. Only when he had his team poised to make a playoff run has it been more Luck than RG3. And I've never heard the "second coming" bit.

One player does not a team make, but compared to the QB's the Colts had last year...well you get the idea.

True, but I'm not sure that really means much, other than he's having a better rookie year than Manning did. We'll see how consistently he can perform at a high level year after year, and we'll see what he does if/when Indy makes the playoffs. I'm not trying to knock Luck or RGIII, but seeing the national media go gaga over a one yard touchdown run by Luck or a jump ball thrown by RGIII where his receiver makes a spectacular catch just gets on my nerves.

I see what you're both saying here. I completely agree with you that RGIII and Luck are both having impressive rookie seasons. But I also see what Skyhawk is saying - a lot of members in the national media are acting like they've never seen anything like what these two guys are doing. They're playing well for rookies, but I also think a lot of the media is taking the praise too far for both of them. IMO, neither one is anywhere near the elite NFL quarterbacks at this point, but a lot of the national media acts otherwise.

I guess I lead a sheltered life, as I don't expose myself to that many media clowns. A little talk radio...a little espn in the morning. You get the idea.

You can't really blame them...they all go burned with their expectations of Cam Newton last year. Little did THEY know that he was an emotionally retarded young man, who they put on this pedestal, which turned out to be a toilet. How quickly they learned...lol. That kid has some Ryan Leaf in him.

You're right, Harrison won't be there forever ... in fact he's been out of the league for the last few years LoL. I believe you mean Reggie Wayne biggrin
