I've been to a few, but arrived shortly before the game began each time. The advice you got makes sense, though, because at every game I went to, the starters all were taken out of the game by the end of the 6th inning, and we didn't see any of them after the game. Wouldn't be surprised if they went and showered while the rest of the game played out. There's typically a practice field next to the game field, and you'll see a bunch of guys warming up on that field during the first part of the game. From what I remember, once the starters are pulled, all of those guys will head over to the game field to go in the game. The backups should be pretty accessible even after the game, but the majority of those guys won't be on the roster come Opening Day, so it may not be as neat for your nephews to meet them.

I've been to some in Arizona to watch the Cubs back when they had a decent team like 5 years ago. Its nice because you are much closer to the action and the players seem to interact with fans more.

Do you remember what the situation was like there in terms of the players being available for autographs? And was it similar to my experiences where the starters all left after the sixth inning?

Didn't realize you were a Pirates fan until now. For all the flack you've given me about the Browns, I owe you big time for the Pirates!

Gotcha...I'm sure that sometime in the next 20 years, they'll make the playoffs once again.

Get there early, but 2 hours seems kind of excessive. Maybe 1 hour or so.
Yes, the big stars may be seen, early on, but they'll not play much.

2 hours seemed a bit excessive to me too, but that came from a guy who has been to a game there the past 3 years. I'm doing it for the kids anyway, so I'll probably just do it and stay on the safe side.

And thanks for the tip about taking a pen and not a Sharpie, Ohio. I was going to take a Sharpie and some baseballs for them. I'll change that to a pen.
