Northwestern next

  • We have the 6th seed locked up and get Northwestern for the late game on Thursday.

Must be careful, not easy to beat a team 3 times in a season.

  • True but they've been playing terrible lately. Hopefully we get if to a fast start and burry them early.

    Some text.

  • Also, if Gesell is back, hope he has no rust or affect team chemistry in the negative way. IA definitely needs Gesell back, with Olaseni's confidence rising and if Basabe can be effective late in the season like NE game, IA is very tough to beat.

I think this team has a legitimate shot to make it to Sunday, but Iowa is also capable of losing to anyone in the B1G on any given day. Northwestern has basically hit rock bottom late in the season, so they have nothing to lose at this point, whereas this is an enormous game for Iowa. I think it's key for the Hawkeyes to get off to a fast start, as I'm sure the Wildcats would love to make their season by winning a game or two in Chicago and spoiling Iowa's season.

  • Yeah, Todd but Iowa is also capable of beating to anyone in the BiG on any given day. So, forget NW ( and lucky it's not really a home court advantage for them), let's keep the momentum going and ruin MSU and Mich/OSU days. Ok, I'll take a quarterfinals win and be competitive in the semis. Hopefully, Baylor, Lasalle, Virg and the likes will lose early in their tourneys.

Nice to see Basabe and Clemmons playing well. I think Basabe will be permanently the starter until he graduates. And Olaseni's game is coming together. Just in time for the tourney! ...yes, I'm sure Fran will be cautious with Gessell.

I'm right there with you - this team is capable of beating anyone or losing to anyone.

  • With Indiana's win over Michigan, the Big Ten Tourney Bracket is set, If Iowa takes care of business on Thursday, we face Michigan State on Friday. I like that match up. Both teams are rebounding machines. Neither team plays artistic offense. Both grind it out and take every fast break opportunity that arises. It wont take too much in the way of breaks to give the Hawks a Saturday Start time too!

    GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Even beyond the BTT, I think anyone is capable of winning the big dance for the most part. This year it seems like there are no truly dominant teams that are heavily favored. This seems like it's going to be a fun tournament to watch and it would be a great one if the hawkeyes to make because they could boost their confidence for next season by stealing a win or two
