That's ridiculous. Particularly in football, players' bodies need to be acclimated to contact. And with delaying contact to such an extent, now the coaches face an impossible balance of getting enough contact in before the first game versus wearing their players down in the days leading up to the opener.

There maybe more injuries in that 1st game now that they won't be used to proper forms. And can see teams making kids come to an extra practice on the Saturday (heck, Sunday too if you have Bear Bryant).

Understand the rationale for eliminating 2 a days but why not just eliminate non contact practices for the 2nd ones. They can still do drills, walk through plays, break down videos or heck conditioning indoors.

Or what happens when it's 97 degrees at kickoff of the season opener, and your players aren't prepared for it?

I believe I started playing in 4th grade, and I think it starts younger than that

I don't disagree with that, when I think back to the "coaches" in the league my younger brother and I played in before middle school, they were just dads, most of which were too fat to even bend over and show a proper 3 point stance
