Iowa to hire Bobby Kennedy and Jim Reid?

  • This is what FootballScoop.com is reporting. Kennedy was most recently the WR coach at Colorado. Before that, he was with Greg Davis at Texas. Reid has been the DC at Virginia for the past three seasons. He has head coaching experience at VMI, Richmond, and UMass. He was once the DL coach for Syracuse and coached LBs for the Dolphins from 2008-09.

Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

I highly doubt Wilson goes to offense. He has very little experience coaching offense (one year as a RB coach, two years at WR). He played DB in college and spent the overwhelming majority of his career coaching and playing on defense.

I think if Erb goes, you will see Kennedy take over for WRs, and someone else will take over responsibility for RBs. I see Morgan moving back to offense well before Wilson.

I could see Reid coming in as DL coach and maybe even as co-defensive coordinator.

However, having said all of that, there is no one on the staff more loyal to Kirk than Wilson. He basically says he owes his career (or the resurgence of it) to him. I would be willing to bet he would take on whatever role Kirk wants. He respects him that much. Just saying, I don't see it happening.

  • I have hear Earnest Wilson, Reid and Kennedy all are possible hires, I could see Kennedy to W.R, Wilson running back or vise versa, and Reid being assistant D.C or something like that. Or we all know that Morgan doesn't have a long time left either, maybe they are just utilizing the coaching talent that is available and think Reid is too good of a coach to pass up.

The only problem is people have to go in order for these people to be brought on board.

Erb sounds like he is gone for sure, but Wilson was actively recruiting right up to the end, so people assuming he is one the way out seems to be pure speculation. Not that it couldn't happen -- just that, unlike Erb and Campbell who disappeared, that never was the case for Wilson, so not sure why people keep assuming he is on his way out.

I bet it's Wilson OR Kennedy and Reid and someone is moving positions as has been alluded. I would bet Morgan.
