  • My point exactly when describing this series. Remove the transition years from Fry to Ferentz and Iowa has dominated the modern day series and it's not even close.

    Yes, Twism....agree with you wholeheartedly.

To go along with this, if you take out those transition years which also coincided with the Ron Dayne years at Wisconsin they have BARELY beaten us in any of their wins, which cannot be said for many of the Iowa wins.

Your stats would not be so sterling if you included the years since I was a freshman in high school! Iowa was a whipping boy to most everyone since the time I became a Hawkeye fan. Moved to CR in '63. Graduated from HS in '67. Want to add the Wisconsin record from '63 to '77? Probably not.

But despite it all, there were still plenty of Hawkeye fans to fill the seats during those years. Fans had tasted the glory of the Evy years and did not easily give up on a team that had been there before. That fact was one of the things that enticed Hayden to come to Iowa despite the bleak records thereafter and the lousy winter weather.

Not sure what it will take to get us to the next level from here, but at least there will always be that same fan support. It's great to be a Hawkeye!\

    GO HAWKS!!!

    5-9-1 from '63 to '77

not really all that bad, when one considers how bad a lot of those Hawkeye teams were. (43-106-5 over that span) That amounts to 11.6% of our wins came against Wisconsin, while they claim only 8.4% of our losses...LOL...who says stats are lies for only politicians.

Very impressive for Iowa, and thanks for putting this together. From a recruiting perspective, most prospects only focus on the past few years. So once Wisconsin returns to the schedule, it'd be very beneficial if the Hawkeyes could get a couple wins.

  • Todd: It won't be IF the Hawkeyes get a couple of wins vs Sconsin.
Just a matter of when we play the series, again.
Their last 'dominating' win, in 2010, was by 1 point and we pretty much gave it to them
with a faulty fake punt coverage, you may recall.

  • Hard to believe we went 17-0-1 over a period of time.

Bucky was pretty bad in the 60's and 70's too, other than their Rose Bowl year in 1962.

In 1981, Wisconsin beat Michigan AND Ohio State but was prevented from going to the Rose Bowl by Iowa, who beat them 17-0 in Madison on a grey November Saturday.
