Illegal hits = Ejection????????????

  • I'm having trouble comprehending how anyone can think that this is a good idea. This is so stupid it's unbelievable and it will just put less talented teams at a greater disadvantage than they already face against top programs.

    EDIT: Posted this before reading the article, I guess it's only specifically if a player is seen as "targeting," but still I don't think this is how you correct it. I think the first thing you have to do is start with educating the players and coaches better. Kicking out a player immediately for one hit like this isn't the solution.

    I think the automatic, yet reviewable ejection is an idiotic rule and as usual it's coming from an idiot who has no basic understanding of the psychology of the sport, or people in general for that matter. Ejections will do very little until the idiots figure out they have to actually EDUCATE the players first.

    Also, I see where you're coming from, but I like the rule. There are a lot of instances where a player is fairly obviously faking an injury to stop the clock, and I think this rule will be good for the game, obviously teams like Michigan State are unique situations and while they need to be dealt with somehow, it's hard to speculate when a player is "truly" injured or not. The only thing they could do is say if a player goes down "x" many times (ex. 2 or 3) per quarter or per half, they have to sit out the rest of the game or something of that sort and as you might imagine, that isn't exactly a perfect rule either.

    Well offensively, the rule is fine. But here in the B1G, its not the problem. Its Sparty taking a dive to stop a hurry up offense that's slicing them up. They need to start taking time outs away for defensive injuries, like the NFL does. After that its a penalty. Dantonio won't be so quick to utilize his lame tactics.

    I wish I had copied that video that shows 3 Sparty players going down, only to realize that they've all flopped at the same time and 2 jump back up and the 3rd starts to, then realizes someone has to stay down.
