Hawkeyes on this NFL Sunday

  • Saw that Jonathon Babineaux picked-up a fumble and scored a TD for Atlanta in their win over Arizona.

See that Sean Considine is in the game, tonight for the Baltimore Ravens.

Riley Reiff was the Left Tackle for Detroit Lions today.

    And..............

  • I was going to start a thread on this but I will piggy back here if you don't mind Sky. What would you say is the #1 reason for so many Hawkeyes reaching the NFL level? Is it coach Doyle? Just say you had to pick the most important reason, what is it?

I would say that his program is important, but I would say the way they are developed at their position is also important. Coach Ferentz also understands what it takes for players to get there.

    I think it's a combination of things.
The success of prior Hawkeyes in the NFL. The hard work and solid ethics (no trouble) of
Iowa players. But, by far, the biggest factor is Kirk Ferentz and his reputation in the coaching ranks
of both College and NFL football.

Saw Tony Moeaki make a very nice catch for the woeful Chiefs, earlier today.

  • I think Iowa has a history at this point of teaching their linemen and linebackers the skills to succeed at the next level. Their success is attributable to the training, more than just physical attributes like size and speed. At the skill positions, we are not so successful because the Speed and Skill are of prime concern there. Whatever speed we recruit seems to end up in our defensive backfield, and not on our offensive skill positions. Hence we have had a number oif very successful Db and safetys at the enxt level. But not too many runners or wideouts, and virtually no success at the QB position.

  • Pat Anger is still making his way back into playing shape...good for 2 solo tackles and 1 assisted vs New Eng
Brandon Meyers was good for 6 catches for 55 yards and 1 TD vs New Orleans
Shonne Greene went 18 rushes for 68 yards for the Jets
Scott Chandler had 2 catches for 30 yards Thursday night
Dallas Clark had a great game for Tampa, 7 catches for 55 yards and the game winning TD...plus credit for one tackle
Mike Daniels had a critical fumble recovery for Green Bay
Riley Reiff gets credit for a tackle after one of the Lions many TO's.
Charles Godfrey 4 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles and 1 pass defense

    That's all I can remember...

Yeah he was hurt early. I can't remember with what. But he was suppose to be starting.

Pat did get hurt earlier this season, but is back on the field for the Colts that last few weeks.

Did You Know that Bryan Mattison is a starting right guard for the KC Chiefs?

    Bet you didn't
