  • Way to make my last two Monday nights in a row, first Robert Gregory last Monday and now David smith this week. I think David commits to Iowa now. Are man Fleming sure is helping this class out a lot. Way to go on story Todd. Any other insight?

  • If you guys get him after taking Flemming away from us as well, I wont be happy. Haha. Obviously he can't go wrong with going to Iowa, but I really want him want him at IU.

  • OldOaken, it really sounds like Smith is Iowa all the way. Flemming seems to really have been the linchpin to the Chicagoland area. BTW, really happy for you guys that Kiel turned down the big names of the world to stick with his hometown school.

  • I am a bit concerned about Smith's highlights. He seems to run really high. Has good height and speed though. Seems like he would be a great ATH, possibly WR. Any chance Smith's offer was not specific for position?

I would much prefer Garmon at RB and since Iowa looks like they may only take one back in this class, he seems to be Iowa's no. 1 priority and certainly stands out on the clips.

Yea thats what Im afraid of now. When Kiel committed he said IU was back to being #1 but that was obviously before Iowa had offered him. I think he will end up in Iowa now.

  • I woud like to see Malloy playing slot receiver as well.
sorry, I guess I should have said, I suspect Iowa is only taking one 'more' RB since I forgot Malloy was technically brought it at RB as well.

  • All the WRs seem to fit the bigger WR though. Iowa still seems to be struggling at finding the speedy slot receiver. They have never had a true one since C.J. Jones. They have tried many times over, even with Chaney last year, but too many transfers, arrests and players that are fast but can't hold onto the ball. I know the coaches thought they had one in Vincent last year -- then he decided to mess around with academics and ended up elsewhere as well.

No matter -- if Iowa could land a McDonald, Severin, Darboh (they all seem like clones), I think Soup will find a way to get them on the field.

BTW, also wanted to mention that I just saw a new highlight film of David Smith, RB and I'm sold. No issues with running high anymore and the only problem I saw was carrying the ball in his left hand all the time (which is easily correctable). Not sure what took Iowa so long to offer after seeing this latest highlight film. Maybe the coaches saw the same thing. He is blazing fast and nicely built.
