  • “I loved it when I visited. I was leaning toward Iowa early, and I really felt at home on the visit. It lived up to all the hype and more on my visit. It just felt right, and I got that gut feeling.”

    Sounds so much better than "OK". This is the type of kid we want and need at Iowa. An outstanding get.

    Still curious what rubbed Antonio Allen so wrong on his visit. By all accounts most of the visitors we've had (even ones that committed elsewhere) have all been impressed to some degree. Allen made it sound like he had a pretty horrible experience, although i suspect we'll never really know what went down

  • Always wanted Kenny and am absolutely thrilled we landed him. I honestly have no clue who would be next or is close to committing somewhere. A great foundation to the class already, and i'm sure there will be guys who blow up this summer that we are in on. Can't wait!

    Every kid will be impressed by different things, or inversely turned off by different things. Just because one 17 year old wasn't "wowed" doesn't necessarily mean anything one way or the other.

    I have been to Oxford and I can tell you it is an absolutely beautiful campus and town. The fact a kid is attracted to a warm weather location and a school that competes in the most competetive BCS conference in the nation is not any huge surprise. As they say, different strokes....

    I'm not 100% sure exactly why Antonio didn't have a great visit in Iowa City, but I do know that his mind wasn't made up beforehand. He'd been wanting to take that visit for 6+ months.

  • Love the pickup. I really like a comparison (maybe from Todd W?) that I saw earlier this week between John Kenny and AJ Edds. I think Kenny has that type of ceiling.

    Edds was 20 pounds heavier at as a senior in high school, but he was on a lot of recruiting lists as a tight end. Did he play LB in high school as well?
