Favorite Pro Football Team of Hawkeye Fans

  • Even if the Hawks lose on any Saturday swirl, there is always your favorite pro team to root for on Sunday. If that team loses also, it really makes for a crummy weekend! rant How ya' doing this year?

For me, it has always been the Green Bay Packers. (And a GREAT place to go watch a game with your buddies instead of your wife!) cheers

    GO, PACK, GO!!! toot

  • Hey GOLDEN - Happy Veteran's Day!! Feel kind of bad that other post you started didn't get more people involved - maybe we are the only OLD FARTS on this board that served. Anyway, Thanks for your service!!

My team has been the Steelers - not sure why I got hooked on them yrs. ago - maybe the black/gold. Always loved their defense with Mean Joe, and lambert, and Hamm. And guys like Rocky B., Franco. Those were some teams! GB has had some fun to watch teams too buteven though I am a midwest guy Steelers remain my favorite pro team.

  • eckster- I failed to mention the Steelers. My bad. They became my OTHER favorite NFL team when Hayden incorporated their uniforms into ours. Never mind the day Franco Harris destroyed us. If my memory serves me right, he almost did it individually. I will have to go back and check the records. He was a special player to be sure!

Veterans' Day is special....my church had a special recognition of them today and about 15 of us stood to be recognized. clap What a bunch of old farts they were! (Other than me, of course!) biggrin Thank you for your service also. There were quite a few more who answered the roll call last year on Hawkeye Central forum, but we did not have quite so many topics going at one time like VOTH. I know there are plenty more vets on this forum.

ONWARD AND UPWARD for Iowa football. We shall return!

  • Golden - the last time the Pack played the Steelers - about 2 yrs. ago I think - my very good fishing buddy -who was a Pack fan and died a yr. ago - would not let me forget who won that game! I mentioned that when I did his eulogy!

On to bb - can't wait to see how this team grows. GO HAWKS!!!

  • I'm a huge Packers fan. My father is a Bears fan and my grandmother was a huge Vikings fan, so as a kid I chose their rival and have never looked back.

I found out my girlfriend was a Packers fan when I first met her. On our first date, we met out for a drink. Instead of flowers, I got her a cheese head.

  • CHIEFS. no

I had a chiefs "Hutch" uniform when I was like 10. Always had good talent through the years, just never a quarterback.

  • Cowboys. Finally played good yesterday. so my times are now 4-6 and 4-5. Uhgggg.

  • I am required, due to my Wisconsin citizenship, to annually proclaim my loyalty to the Green Bay Packers. Done.

As a fellow Hawkeye in the land of Cheese I have no trouble cheering against the Badgers and Packers. To be fair, I pull for both, unless the Hawkeyes or Vikings are involved. I am a hot weather Vikings Fan. But I developed a cold shoulder for Pro Football back in about 1994 (?) when the players put salary above team loyalty. Of course I was first disenchanted with pro football by the Cowboys when they made aging stars a commodity to be peddled for market appeal to non competitive teams for cherished draft picks. So I 100% of the time pull against the Cowboys. Curt Flood and the Cowboys Front Office/Tom Landry should be hung in perpetual effigy in the Pro baseball and Pro Football halls of Shame. They did irreparable damage to the game in their time.

edited to correct the spelling of "Hawkeyes". Sheesh!!!

And the KC CHIEFS do Own a Super Bowl Championship, as well.

Thanks for Len Dawson, Otis Taylor, Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan, Hank Stram and sundry other
    Hall of Famers!

    Good choice CopHawk!

Tony Moeaki had a nice game for the Chiefs on Monday night.

Imagine that Garret passed 26 times and ran 25. Instead of throwing 50 and running 5. Maybe he is starting to pick up this head coaching thing? shrug Oh and Go Dallas Cowboys!

  • Long-time Packers fan here. I grew up in NE Iowa, where you ended up either a Packers fan, a Bear fan, or a Vikings fan. When I was four, Bart Starr, I believe, was in his last year, and I associated the name with football. After that, I asked for the black Bart Starr Converse tennis shoe, and got a new pair every school season for several years.

Despite the dark years of the 70s and 80s, I never looked back. And, I agree, there's nothing like Lambeau Field, though I wish they would dish those old-fashioned metal bench seats for seats with a back.

  • Packer fan. Married a Vikings fan and a lot of my friends are Bears fans. My bro is a Chiefs fan. Poor fella.
