Decision coming soon for Edwards? Scroll down for latest update

  • Did his father give a specific reason? I find this very shocking. Would it have anything to do with his father saying they would ask questions as to why some of the talented players they have seen on film , haven't seen the field?

Just got confirmation from Stan Edwards that Iowa did pull Berkley's offer.

This makes no sense what so ever...

any idea why or if they have a new prospect at RB

I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.

What talented players would they be referring to? Jordan Canzeri? Calling him "talented" is a stretch.

  • From what Stan told me, Iowa didn't give them a reason. Could be for any number of reasons, so I don't want to speculate right now.

Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

I doubt it'd have anything to do with his father's comments, but I really don't know the exact reason. There are a bunch of possible reasons for this.

  • Any chance it is because Weisman and Malloy are going to get put on scholarship?
Or are those already factored in?

Well its safe to say that they're decision here is worse then their ability to watch a play clock!

I'm sorry...we have no RB's in this class and even if things are looking like they're getting someone "better"...one RB is NOT ENOUGH! (and the JUCO kid committed to ISU, isn't what I would call "better")

I censored you not, I just got my brand new "HAWKEYES" T-shirt in the mail today, was wearing it proudly, and I just took it off out of sheer disgust.

With no reasons given, I dare say its nothing that Edwards did.

  • We have what for running backs??
    Weisman soph
    Garmon fr
    Canzeri soph
    Hill fr
    Malloy fr
    Dawson so
    Bullock so
All young any chance one said if they sign another back this year they are leaving? Or maybe they think we have enough? I don't know I am still floored over this.

The only real RBs we have are Weisman, Garmon and Bullock. The rest are Mossbrucker material.

Ohio, claim down. I liked Edwards too but its nothing to get upset about. The kid was a 3 star that only had three BCS offers from schools that have a combined record of 13 - 21. The kid also had his chance to come to Iowa, he visited all the schools, he talked to the coaches, and he should've committed after his senior season as planned instead of dragging it out more. We dont have that many scholarships to give and we dont have time for games with I wanna announce on signing day.

We have a long jam as is at the RB position with all of them being young. Hill, Garmon, Malloy, Dawson, Canzerii, Bullock, & Weisman. Plus we are on a highly rated RB Jones for the 2014 class. Iowa has plenty of scatbacks, we need a all purpose back.

15 National Championships and one Urban Meyer heart attack, Roll Tide. 23 NC's in wrestling and one badass Herky, Go Hawks.

I would consider Bullock and Garmon AN all purpose back Fu biggrin Am I wrong? garmon needs an off season to build up more but has good hands and Bullock has good hands.

  • Any chance they were playing wait and see with Edwards and now that the Cal HC is out, they weren't ready to accept what they determined would be an immediate commitment? Would they rather just rip the band-aid off now rather than string him along and tell him no a few months from now?

I agree, this is highly unlikely but you have to speculate somewhere, somehow.

Yea, but with more size to run in between the tackles.

Sorry FU, I can't claim down...you need to go and study this kid's senior tapes...I saw less out of Greg Garmon's highlights last year. His ranking is because he's not the "ideal size"...5'9-1/2", 185lbs. This kid is not a "scat-back" either...hes a tough, between the tackles runner who can take it outside and has breakaway speed.

As for "dragging it out more"...its ONLY NOVEMBER 20th! This kid and his family have never said they were waiting till signing day to announce...quite frankly everything from Todd has been they are very close.

And as for our "long jam"...we have 3 guys with some ability and a bunch of guys who won't amount to anything, and were offered because we had scholarships to hand out at the end of the year.

This kid is going to be special, mark my words, and Iowa has done themselves a disservice. Oh and keep hoping out for Jones next year...like that will happen.

EDIT: Besides, when was the last time we graduated a senior RB who played? 2005?

Honestly I don't see rb as a big priority, I would much rather get a speed rush DE or another dual threat qb and sell the rb prospects of next year on the fact they didn't get one this year. Edwards to me didn't bring anything different to the table than canzeri or bullock so I see it as there are greater needs to be addressed and I'm not too bummed out about this.

I don't see running back as a priority either but he's going to be a good 1.
This makes Jones even more of a priority for next years class.
