DONDRE ALEXANDER

  • Hey Todd do you got any info on this recruit for 2013. My buddy who has seen Darboh and Dondre play says he thinks they are both very similar on talent level. I thought he was going to make a visit, but more importantly I was wondering has he got an offer yet?

I know we need WR's and we like locking instate talent. I hope if we are high on this kid we don't play games and get the offer out

15 National Championships and one Urban Meyer heart attack, Roll Tide. 23 NC's in wrestling and one badass Herky, Go Hawks.

  • "Other" Todd here...Alexander was supposed to be at the IU game on on unofficial.

He's a talented basketball player as well and is drawing some interest in that sport as well. At this point is sounds like he's still undecided on which sport he wants to play at the next level. During football season he's high on playing football and during basketball season he says he likes the thought of playing hoops.

Time will tell. Great athlete regardless.

Sorry for not seeing this earlier - been on the phone. As far as I know, he doesn't have any offers yet. I've seen Dondre play twice now, and he's a beast. He's huge and very physical for a receiver, especially when you consider he's only a junior. He's been to two Iowa games this year, and is in regular contact with Coach Morgan. I haven't yet spoken to him since Saturday's visit, but it's unclear if/when Iowa will offer. From what I've seen, he does an outstanding job of using his body both downfield in jumpball situations, and in breaking tackles in the open field. On his best play the other night against Cedar Falls, he ran a simple hitch, caught the ball, shrugged off a couple tackles like they were first graders, and took off for about 40 yards. In the first game I saw, it was almost a given that West was going to throw a fade to Dondre any time they got into the red zone, and it was just about automatic. IMO, the only issue with him is whether he is explosive and sudden enough to get separation at the next level. There are so many great receivers out there, and he's not exactly playing against the best DB's. This is purely just speculation, but my assumption is that Iowa may wait to see how he performs at a summer camp against some better DB's to determine whether or not to offer.

  • Thanks both Todd's on the heads up. You guys have been more than amazing on this site. And I'm hoping to get the subscribition from the GF for xmass.

I just don't want ISU to offer him first, than have to play catch up like Bevins this year

Thank you for your support, we're certainly glad you're here!

Your comment about the subscription for xmas for some reason reminded me of the Klondike Bar commercial where all the guy has to do to get a Klondike Bar is listen to his wife for five seconds, and he makes it look like the toughest thing he's ever done. Maybe you could offer up five seconds of your time, and see where that gets you! lol

I don't think it's a big deal to get beaten to the punch by Iowa State, as long as it doesn't take TOO long for Iowa to offer.

  • Just talked to Dondre. I'd forgotten that he also attended the Tennessee Tech game, so Saturday was his third Iowa game this year. However, the visit was arranged with the basketball team, so he didn't get a chance to talk to any of the football coaches. The basketball coaches told him that they like what he's doing, and want to see him play next summer. He talked to Reese Morgan about a week ago, but no further mention of an offer at this point.
