this morning on one of ESPN's offshoot channels, they interviewed a sports
specialists, the topic was about self entitlement attitude that todays kids have.
this is why a lot of the freshmen that transfer after one year, escpecially amongst the higher reguarded athletes,
they come in with the attitudes things should be, just handed to them.
this to me is what happened with Garmon and the result with the 2005 class, Bain and Bailey, Doering not putting the effort in practice according to reports . of that class only Eubanks, Moeaki and Richardson did something at Iowa although Moeaki and Dace were hampered by injuries thruout their career.
all in all a pretty good show, and in my opinion is a big problem with todays sports to much self entitlement among today's athletes.
I didnt see the show but such an attitude exists well beyond athletes in colleges and universities (though it may well be higher with the ego of top athletes). As professor, it seems many students expect an A in classes simply for completing the minimum of work and expect to have a well paid position handed to them following graduation. I think it is a generational thing.
Ithink this was the point being made as it appears they were ta;lking about the kids born in the 80's and 90's, but your right about one thing. its goes well beyound the Athletes as their are a lot of young poster that have that attitude that they deserve better.
What about Shonn Greene, Pat Angerer, Marshal Yanda, and Trey Stross?
This is a very good topic.
I think it all goes beyond the athletic field as well.
Wrestling owns the Olympics
I think he was referring to the 4 and 5* guys.
Here's another link...to college campus/students in general. Big problem...trophy for everyone even if they didn't win, etc. etc.....folks expect something for what they consider to be an effort on their part...doesn't matter if it's successful effort or even correct! Just saw this today...
I didn't see that the first time, but that would make more sense.
I must have missed something, what Did all of these have to do with self entitlement?
Redhawk was saying that most of players in the '05 class were self-entitled and didn't pan out. Then he listed Eubanks, Moeaki, and Richardson as being the only guys in that class that worked out (though perhaps I misunderstood what his point was). I countered by noting that Angerer, Greene, Yanda, and Stross also worked out.
the point of the show was about how the 4-5* players come into college with the idea starting jobs should just be handed to them, they also said that this attitude is spreading thruout the 80's thru present generation of how people expect more than they are entitled to.
